Vinyl Me Please Rap & Hip Hop

I want so many classic 90’s hip hop album to get high quality vinyl pressing reissues! If only there was the commitment to it, like for Jazz and Rock music! 😩😩😩

I want to see Analogue Productions commit to hip-hop releases! I want Warren G’s debut album to be 2xLP 45RPM, 200g presses at QRP! Like I want all those 90’s hip hop albums to receive that treatment! 😭😭😭

I even purchase the Newbury Comics exclusive for NaS’ Illmatic, which was released this year/is the latest pressing, just to see if there was maybe an improvement in the sound quality compared to the other pressings I have! 🤦‍♂️😂😂😂

I got Raekwon’s Only Built For Cuban Linx from Newbury Comics too, even though the MOV pressing sounds great, I just wanted to see if this Cherry red/clear split variant would be better! 😂

We need VMP to press NaS’ Illmatic because they would make it an Essentials ROTM and would hence remaster it and it would likely be the definitive pressing! ☺️

Wish VMP weren’t against NaS 😭😭😭

I actually feel like the sound quality is a bit better on this Newbury Comics pressing! It’s actually quite punchy, and clear! The only thing is that it doesn’t have a big soundstage and NaS’ vocals on some tracks aren’t as clear as I’d like, but it is the best pressing I have so far in my opinion! 🙌

The colour variant is awesome too! I love the translucent split colour variant! Looks great! 👍

When I got the NaS' Illmatic, I got the Raekwon Only Built For Cuban Linx and Deltron 3030's Deltron 3030 and they both look so good! Illmatic is nearly finished on the turntable! I'll play Raekwon next and will take pics for you to see what it looks like! 😊

The Deltron 3030 looks so freaking good though! it's a crazy good looking variant, and sounds great too! :cool:👌

I like Newbury Comics as well! I don't love them like I love VMP, as their exclusives aren't as interesting as VMP's in my opinion. But they do have some fun and sweet colour variants!

And this one is a gatefold cover which is nice too! In terms of audio quality, the MOV pressing sounds a bit better - it's more sharper! Both sound good overall but if you care about audio quality, go with the MOV pressing!

Yeah, Newbury Comics edition is a pretty colour variant - the opaque cherry red looks so nice! The Newbury Comics pressing is not as good sound quality wise as the MOV pressing, but still sounds good nonetheless. You do like your colour variants, so this Newbury Comics exclusive might be the one you want! But if sound quality is your number one priority, then go for the MOV pressing! 😃

Do you have the 2017 EU black pressing of Illmatic? It is fantastic - I've not found a colored pressing that matches it (having not tried this Newbury one you're referencing)

No, I don’t have that one actually! I’ve got the 2012 US pressing, and the Orange Illmatic XX pressing and a 2004 pressing! The 2004 pressing was the second best / kinda equal to the Newbury Comics pressing!

I’ll see if I can get 2017 EU pressing, and I’ll compare it to the Newbury Comics pressing and will see what I think! I’m keen! 😄

Yea, it's good. I've tried a few of the colored pressings over the years and have never been blown away. The only colored ed. I still have in my collection is the 2018 GoD/TTL red. It's okay. I'll probably eventually sell it, but haven't gotten around to it.

The '17 EU, IME, is the best if you're going purely for sound. Illmatic is one of those albums I have too many copies of (lol) between vinyl & CD (also have the XX and 10th anniversary on CD - the XX vinyl is supposed to be poor [plus only the CD has bonus tracks])

I know, I love Illmatic so much! It’s definitely in my top 10 hip-hop albums of all-time! ♥️

I’ve got an order with vinyl-digital on hold, and I can see that they are selling the EU 2017 pressing of Illmatic for only 14.61€ !!! 🙌

I’ve got Tierra Whack’s Whack World, Pharoahe Monch’s Internal Affairs, Quelle Chris/Chris Keys’ Innocent Country 2 and Pete Rock’s Center of Attention all on hold! I’ve paid for them but they haven’t shipped due to COVID, so I’m gonna ask if I can add the EU 2017 Illmatic to the order! 😄

@Jonathan Y - What do you do to get vinyl-digital to ship your order? I forgot how! Do you offer to pay extra to get it shipped through DHL?
