I’ve got Tierra Whack’s Whack World, Pharoahe Monch’s Internal Affairs, Quelle Chris/Chris Keys’ Innocent Country 2 and Pete Rock’s Center of Attention all on hold! I’ve paid for them but they haven’t shipped due to COVID, so I’m gonna ask if I can add the EU 2017 Illmatic to the order! 😄

@Jonathan Y - What do you do to get vinyl-digital to ship your order? I forgot how! Do you offer to pay extra to get it shipped through DHL?

Just email their support email address and ask them to use the shipping you paid for all the albums to ship it in one box via DHL and ask them if there is a difference in cost. They told me no extra and they sent 4 albums to me shipping paid was around 20USD for the 4

I have a translucent red TTL pressing from a few years ago of Illmatic and I think it sounds pretty good. I am pretty sure it’s just a repress using GOD! Plates but I have no issues and it has good bass. Maybe some slight static here and there but it’s nothing distracting.

Yes, that's the colored one I mentioned having in the exchange w/ Nathan. I don't mind it. I still find my EU copy to be nicer than it, but I don't have any major complaints (like you mentioned, some slight static)

Definitely crossed my mind, but seeing how some of the limited versions just sky rocket in price I want to keep one sealed since they are the same track listing. I'm going to wait a bit and see if there is one that sounds definitively better and then weigh my options. I'm impulsive as hell though so in the end I'll probably crack the seal on both...

IMO vinyl is meant to be listened to, not looked at. But I get that everyone collects for their own reasons.

Of all my records I only have one still sealed. I definitely buy to listen, but since I bought 2 of this record I did so to listen to one and hold on to the other. And if one copy goes up in value I can use it as trade bait or a down payment towards something else worth more than I would feel comfortable paying for down the line.

Exactly! Even though the Newbury Comics pressing for Illmatic sounds great, the vocals on both Halftime (last track on Side A) and It Ain’t Hard to Tell (last track ok Side B) have siblance/distortion. Apart from that, the pressing does sound great!

They need to put Illmatic on 2LP 45RPM or just a general 2LP!
 
@Jmcg85 - Get the Newbury Comics pressing for Raekwon’s Only Built For Cuban Linx. Don’t get the Music On Vinyl pressing, here’s why:

1). The Newbury Comics exclusives has the track ‘North Star (Jewels)’ whilst the MOV pressing does not have this track! Therefore, the MOV does NOT contain the full track-listing whereas the Newbury Comics exclusive has the full tracklisting!

2). The Newbury Comics is a nice gatefold jacket, whereas the MOV pressing is not a gatefold! And the printing quality on the jacket for the Newbury Comics exclusive is MUCH BETTER than the MOV jacket!

Here are pics of the jacket! The jacket on the left is MOV whereas the jacket on the right is Newbury Comics! The MOV jacket is like not the right colour and is way too dark and gloss finish doesn't look that great! The Newbury Comics jacket is perfect! Perfect colour, feels great and is a gatefold!

And I just compared the sound quality for both pressings and the MOV is just a bit better than the Newbury Comics Sound quality wise. They are very close, the MOV just hits a bit harder and has a bit of a wider soundstage! But it’s not much of a difference so definitely go with the Newbury Comics pressing! Vinyl is pretty, and the jacket is far superior, and it has the full tracklisting!

If these clues are in the same order as their last hint, I definitely see the possibility of OutKast/Erykah Badu in Essentials and Redman - Muddy Waters in October (which would be AMAZING because the copy I own has a dope lenticular cover but both records are extremely warped) and Flockaveli in December (which they've definitely been hinting at since the Rick Ross release)
