Vinyl Me Please Rap & Hip Hop

Omg, I though you were talking about Athens as in the city in Greece! I had no idea there was a city in the U.S. called Athens!!!

If you ever make it to upstate NY, you've a bunch of cities w/ Greco-Roman names....

Syracuse, Homer, Rome, Ithaca, Utica, Troy, Athens, Cicero, Carthage, Arcadia, Alexandria......and that's just the tip of the iceberg. There are dozens upon dozens of towns with like-minded names. Most of these cities were founded during a time of renewed interest in ancient Greece; so it follows that cities were founded with these types of names.

(and there is an Atlanta, NY)

in 5 years i'll probably be in athens or atlanta because im planning to move in with my brother
there are some well known bands from athens... R.E.M. the B-52s, the glands, actually anything from the elephant 6 collective (neutral milk hotel has lived there), of montreal,

basically atlanta is where all the great hip hop here is from, athens is where most of the beloved indie rock is from here (some exceptions, see the fact that deerhunter is from atlanta)

I recommend Athens. Also, Pylon is from there too

Just cause mentioning Jean Grae, got me thinking of her collab w Blue Sky Black Death. Now, I wouldn’t want to see that. It’s a fine album, but...
I’d love to see their collab w Hell Razah, Razah’s Ladder.
That is a superb album. I have an OG but I think it’s an album that should make it into more people’s rotation.

That was actually unofficial and done without her knowledge/permission and she wasn't happy about it.
I’m aware of that. I wouldn’t call it unofficial though. She didn’t like that it got released but it was released “officially” (ie it’s not a bootleg). It has a few strong tracks and I tend to enjoy BSBD production but it’s not a killer album.

But that’s not that album I’d want to see...I was merely pointing out that talk about her made me think of BSBD.

It wasn't an "official" collaboration in my opinion if one of the "collaborators" wasn't aware of it. That's what I meant by unofficial.

So many great hip hop albums from 1996! I hope we get something great like Busta Rhymes, Jay-Z, Bahamadia, Redman, Kool Keith or Heltah Skeltah!

It would be great if VMP did De La Soul a 2nd time for the R&HH ROTM and did Stakes Is High!

Reasonable doubt would never be on the RHH track though...Jay would be essentials for sure. Anything Jay, Kanye or Frank would be essentials. Busta would be dope though.
That’s so true! 💡

I have a feeling VMP will never get to be able to do a Kanye West, Frank Ocean or Jay-Z ROTM! I can’t see it happening! 😢

I can’t see them even doing a Kendrick Lamar ROTM as well to be honest! 🥺🥺🥺

What about Busta Rhymes’ The Coming!?!?!

And Jay-Z’s Reasonable Doubt? Surely you’d want Reasonable Doubt over Westside Connection’s Bow Down!? 😶🐒
Busta yes. Jigga no. I love the album. Its my 3rd favourite Jay Z album but I've got a MOV press that came with extra 7 inch i dont need another. Im kinda sick of getting albums i have already too lol so selfish personal reasons I would prefer the other albums 😂

I was planning to get the MOV pressing for Reasonable Doubt but I did my research and I remember it mostly getting negative reviews for its sound quality, so I avoided it!

I feel like Reasonable Doubt is like The College Dropout and Illmatic and needs a high quality sounding pressing!

Alot of the time it is down to the source material. Sometimes I dont know what folk (not you ❤) really expect from certain albums, they are going to sound the way they sound regardless. Like illmatic & 36 Chambers. Not sure what The College Dropouts excuse is though. I am cool with my MOV press its a nice package overall

36 Chambers I totally understand but I really want NaS’ Illmatic to get a proper strong reissue! I know it’s possible!

Get Kevin Gray, and Bernie Grundman together to remaster Illmatic, then get it half speed mastered at Abbey Road, then do a 2xLP pressing of it at 45RPM, pressed at RTI or QRP!

😂😂😂
