Vinyl Me Please Rap & Hip Hop

@NathanRicaud it’s still okay, not blown away. It has craft on the labels I’m guessing it’ll probably sound identical.
VMP edition lacquer cut by - Barry Grint at Alchemy Mastering with no mention of who did the actual mastering for album, non VMP Craft pressing lacquer cut by - Chris Noel under the supervision of Dave Cooley at - Elysian Masters mastered by - Kevin Hodge.i remember when i bought the non VMP Craft pressing being really impressed on how the album/press sounded as Craft really likes using MRP as their go to pressing plant, which i'm not a fan of as my opinion is they have major QC issues.

Might walk some criticism back, revisiting this morning and Labcabin sounds far better.

I ran it through the HG when I received it yesterday and put it straight on the platter afterwards, I usually don’t have excess static after a cleaning but I’m wondering yesterday if there was static running interference on vocals and making them sound kinda fried. Today it’s listenable 🤷🏼‍♂️
It's definitely a very vocal forward record. Sounds really good, but It's definitely one of my most vocal forward hip hop records. Haven't compared it A to B against Tidal Hi-Fi so I'm curious to see how it compares there. Overall happy with this pressing though.

For anyone interested in the next RHH record of the month

Gang Starr "No More Mr Nice Guy"

Probably a skip for me unless they come with some exclusives on the drop tomorrow and I can fill out the holes in their discography...

im probably gonna skip this one... it kinda sucks because its not a BAD album, its just very much dated.. it doesn't have the speed or grit that i think of from the covers of their later albums alone, its all simple beats and slow and expected flows..

its no moment of truth is all I'm saying

Yeah, to me it feels super dated. Like a couple of years removed from this little blurb about old school rap.

And yeah, if VMP did Grandmaster Flash or Roxanne Shante or some shit I would pass on it too. Just because they were the innovators doesn't mean they aged well.

that hat story honestly sounds pretty close to gurus flow on the album.. at the very least on jazz music

i feel like grandmaster flash or mantronix would be like... fantastic options for old school rap that though is aged is still really enjoyable... the message is still a classic song and mantronix basically MADE the sound that would become most beats now (fucking DILLA used the same siren sound a mantronix.. that's a co-sign)

When it is sign up day? I don't care for this album but want Gravediggaz and Game so likey just do a 3 month now to lock in and swap Gangstarr for something like Low End Theory

I think I can only barely stand listening to White Lines now.

I'm more open to Afrika Bambaataa.
