Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

I have two more things to say:

One, The tone that has been (allowed to be) set on this forum is:
  • if you post something that appears to be pro-VMP, you should expect a backlash
  • if you post something negative about VMP there is no expectation of anything happening (in fact you will probably get a couple of kudos)
I will never find that acceptable, the expectation should be the same as there isn't one group that is way larger than the other (probably not an accurate way to determine but the vote on VMP thread numbers does say something), but there is one that is more vocal

Two, When this happens again I am going to point back to this and say there was an opportunity to change the allowed narrative on this forum and it wasn't done

In an effort to keep this from going off the rails again, do you guys think those Chance albums will show up in the store at some point? I MIGHT be down for Coloring Book if I could avoid the $10 shipping that they're charging direct. Of course, knowing VMP they'll just bake that into the price and charge $45 anyway.

There's rumours that it might be part of a bundle, nothing concrete, though.

Something definitely will show up. The fact that VMP was mentioned at all is nothing short of a coincidence.

@Enoch im not sure I entirely agree with this. Its true that a lot of the posts concerning VMP here are negative, but that's more of a reflection on VMP as opposed to people with pitchforks complaining for the sake of it. When people post issues with VMP and get a reaction I find its mainly because people are experiencing the same issues.

Nobody wants or have ever wanted to have a bad experience with VMP (that would be crazy considering the amount of money and time we have given to them) and its therefore understandable for people to get annoyed when issues come up. Luckily this forum (and specific thread) exists to vent those issues to people in the same position.

The last thing, it is saying this that helps to escalate the "derailing." Trust me I have a lot I want to say in response to you saying that, but I am stopping here.
Not for nothing but you are reacting to an overall positive VMP post with negativity toward the post.

This is simple, if you feel people are over the line when they post - report it. There is no reason to continue making this thread about you. People can be negative and will; it’s not fair to expect negativity to be shut down. When it crosses the line, then the mods do come in and do something... sorry that it isn’t the action you are looking for, which is... I’m not sure what you want. Report the bad behavior so that the mods can deal with it by either letting the offender know they’ve stepped over the line or having a conversation about why the offensive behavior is permissible.

There shouldn’t be a rule about VMP because there aren’t rules about everything else.

Exactly. People talk shit on Newbury ALLL THE TIME, but I dont get all huffy because I own a few Newbury presses. VMP isnt the only record company that gets shit on around here. Pointing out a company's flaws is a good thing and not an attack on any single person who enjoys said company.

The last few pages of actual discusion about VMP products was:

  • The relative positives and negatives of Rising, which many (including a staff member) were very excited for
  • People being excited for Chance records
  • Discussions of what to swap for and people talking about how great certain albums are (Booker, Lapsley, Mitski, etc) including two staff members.
  • People getting refunds for issues with their purchases.
In general it was extremely positive, with the major complaints being mostly about choices of music.

Hey man. It's all good. You are a good person full of determination and support. I will try to make sure any of my VMP criticism is constructive on the threads where VMP product discussions are taking place. I am no longer a VMP member...but it is due to a combination of their service issues and me trying to watch my money. If I have a limited amount to spend on records each month...it is going to be on something I really want. They still have great curation which is why I keep my eye on what they are releasing.

Regarding Chance - we have no idea about VMP's involvement or future plans with these records. All we know if that temporarily last night it said they were VMP releases. Sure, we can throw guesses around, but we should all be aware it's just that.

People spread rumors so fast and people take it as fact. There's no credible mention of it coming to the store, or bundles, or future ROTM or Hip-Hop ROTM. All we really know is that the text in Chance's store said VMP pressings before erased. What is in store for the future, nobody knows.

Ultimately this is what I was asking. I had no idea the particulars of this or even if there were any. Thanks for the clarification!
