I don't think there's anything wrong with thinking someone may be having a health issue and offering help for it. It could very well be that the person's perceptions are wildly wrong. I think the post was inappropriate to accuse Enoch of being manipulative. I think he has the best intentions and I don't get the impression he is acting the way is is due to any unrelated issues. I think he got attacked the first time he brought this up and that has colored the way he approached sharing the information here this time and how he has reacted to other people's reactions.

I actually didn't realize that was a "private room". I will edit that out. Apologies for the ignorance (this is my first message board experience).
 
Guys, I do think this is getting out of hand. While there were heated words thrown, I think we should drop the mental health angle. @Enoch maybe shouldn’t have rekindled the argument, but now these comments are getting very personal and I think we should all agree that everyone has the right to debate and have arguments, but we should not resort to what we are resorting to.
 
All in all let’s agree that:

1) Some people like VMP, some people don’t. Praise of the company or critiques of the company should not be taken personally,

2) and if you are angry with the company, do not take it out on someone that is happy with them. If you are happy with the company, do not take personally the thoughts and comments of others.

3) Let’s let bygones be bygones and realize that some things got out of hand and let’s go back to civil discussions.

That’s all I have left to say. I hope we can go back to normal conversations soon.

Edit: just checked that I ordered Secret Machines on March 11 and it's not out until July 12.

I'll say that other companies do it. TMR takes orders and ships about 2-3 months down the road. ROG too, and they ship 3-4 months later roughly. Many pre-orders in general work out that way too.

It's usually pretty clear when you should receive your order when you make the purchase though. VMP does give you the estimated month of shipping - I guess the issue is that they miss that deadline too often?

Thanks for the info. I knew that one thing is when an album is released on, let's say, September, and Amazon opens the preorders because the date it's official and worldwide. But on something like a colored edition I had no idea it worked the same way.
My only experience with a preorder of something that didn't exist yet was the OK Go thing via Pledge music, that took like a year to arrive, but I blamed Pledge bankruptcy for that.

I don't see it this way at all. I saw the responses to his original post yesterday in real time and, while not surprised based on what is now pretty much standard operating procedure around these parts (per the post that you responded to), was still disappointed to see quite a bit of the feedback pretty much instantly go to a discussion about the poster and not the content. I felt there were numerous personal attacks yesterday and understand why the poster is defensive and still upset a day later. So no, this isn't just about him, and he isn't crazy for being upset.

I see that @MikeyP has edited the most sensitive part of his post. As it stands it does not violate any guidelines of the forum, seems to come from a place of genuine concern, and is no more outside the bounds than anyone else describing what they've seen over the last couple days. Clearly there are differing perspectives.

Please keep in mind that it is not against the rules to question a poster about their intentions or motivations--it is not a personal attack to ask what one is hoping to achieve, etc, though we can all work on keeping our tone and phrasing respectful.

Please also note that nothing on this forum is private. The registered members only section should not be viewed as a private space, as anyone can register. While it is polite not to mention any particular person's participation in the more sensitive threads in the broader forum, those threads are not secret. Please keep this in mind when posting there.

Thanks for this. I probably should have known better to even broach this subject, especially with tensions so high. For what it's worth, I did DM him and let him know I'd delete it if he felt it crossed the line. He seemed okay with it.

I agree with this and said so in the post you quoted and then I reiterated it even more clearly in a follow up post after reading more of what was going on.

Yes mine has gone from ships with your next record of the month (last month) to shipping in early July, to shipped (is included in my shipping email for this month, my package hasn't arrived yet but I'm not hopeful), to disappeared from my orders page. I will give the advice that @Enoch has given me and many others, change the url on that page from shipments to orders and go back through and it should still be there. Mine is. But yes, what a remarkable process.
