Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

No one cares.

I'm going to guess that whatever this fucking clown is posting is just the same aimless circular logic that they usually employ and isn't worth me wasting my time on it. He literally joined the forum, because nobody wanted to listen to his corny ass on reddit, which he responded to by claiming he actually wanted to be downvoted and was hoping for downvotes, as if that didn't immediately translate into anything other than begging for attention. His only aim was to defend shady moves by VMP at the time and was, somehow, so upset by hearing others voice completely warranted dissatisfaction and asking questions, that he came here to join the forum, right in the midst of all of that, just to defend them more aggressively against people that didn't care and didn't know them. If this guy is now working overtime to defend Amazon on top of that, no thank you.

That being said, this conversation is, apparently, still happening without me in it. That's fine -- and preferred -- but even more hilarious if they have to read my posts, while I ignore theirs. VMP is bad enough to cheerlead for with how unappreciative and bumbling they are -- why would anyone take the side of a corporation against actual people in their community -- but Amazon is directly destroying the city that I fucking live in. God help us all if VMP ever finds themselves in a position to price people out of cities, destroy communities, scrape personal information from local governments, and affect policy, while Matt Fielder owns media outlets and sits on the Pentagon defense advisory board. It sucks that I have to use Amazon for emergencies sometimes, like a lot of us do, but those guys have such a direct impact on the city that I live in that it's even more difficult to separate those two realities, when I do. I'm trying to limit it. While someone might choose to dip in and out of VMP and take the risk on something when it benefits them, knowing full well that they might be setting themselves up to get screwed, Amazon makes it feel like I'm throwing the entire planet under the bus, it I order a last minute present for someone during the quarantine. Are there people out there that actually LOVE Amazon? I understand liking deals or convenience, but loving the actual company?

I just wanted to say something, really quick, since I know that people use them and I don't want to come across as shaming those people, just because I made an off hand comment about the richest man on the planet, who is firing workers over organizing for healthier working conditions. I didn't expect that viewpoint to be controversial.

I’m really enjoying Jonathan Richman’s “I, Jonathan” ! It’s got this nostalgic, beach-y summer sunset sound and Jonathan Richman’s quirky yet laid back vocals have so much character! I absolutely love the track “I was Dancing in the Lesbian Bar” too! I was vibing that song so much! Love the spoken-word, stripped back, reminiscing closing song as well! I find this album so charming! Can’t wait to spin it! 😄

I want to type out one of your posts about how I'm so excited that you also are enjoying an artist that I love, but I don't have the emoji skills for that, so just know that I'm feeling it

I, Jonathan is a great album. Would have been a sweet AOTM. He’s brilliant live too.

Yeah, he's great. I've seen him a handful of times and he can impose some interesting rules as far as photographing his shows. I've been told that we couldn't shoot at all, before, and other times, been informed that you had to photograph him off to the side. My guess is to not throw him off, maybe? I took this photo at Pickathon and, for whatever reason, he seemed cool with letting me shoot this one up close. Maybe the fact that I was clearly there to enjoy the set and not detract from it was a factor. Maybe he just didn't care either way, but it was cool seeing him perform in the woods.

For anyone else just discovering him, besides the obvious recommendation to check out Modern Lovers, here's a video of him with Andrew Bird that you might enjoy.

OH! And if he looks familiar, but you can't quite place him, he was also the guy playing music throughout There's Something About Mary

I knew it was a currated pick (indie exclusive) and not a VMP exclusive but it's still the best bang for my buck so I snagged it right away 🤷‍♂️

I totally get that. I just wonder if people are doing that, in general. We kind of got a heads up about it being the standard indie, but it's rare to see them drop something in this fashion that isn't an exclusive. I could see a lot of people reacting quickly and trying to grab it, before it vanishes for that reason.

I, jonathan is actually a nice parting gift before my discount sub ends next week

It’s not controversial. Only the troll disagrees.

Imagine writing this much about someone you apparently have on ignore and don't want to see their post. Sheesh man, get a fucking life.

Honestly if I were you I would just put him on ignore. I caught the brunt of one of his rants and almost quit this forum for good, but I realized there’s way too many cool people on here to let some arguments from one person keep me away for good.
