Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

@NathanRicaud You may like more of the current female Country artists more. Try out any of Lindi Ortega's albums, her first 3 are flawless and she's got a sassy but old school sound. Also Tessy Lou Williams, Ruthie Collins, Whitney Rose, and Michaela Anne's Desert Rose' (one of my favorites).

I have a strong dislike for most country. False twang vocals, overly sob-story lyrics and slooooooow pacing make me go crazy. I tend to last a half-song....until Chris Stapleton. I heard the song 'Death Row' during a speaker review I was listening to on YouTube and fell in love with it. Found out it was Chris Stapleton, who I had never heard of. Went to Spotify and immediately was bummed. He was a country artist. Ugh!

Decided to try to listen to the album 'From A Room: Volume 1' anyway. Made it about 3 songs. Which, for me, was quite good for a country album. But, I decided I was determined to make it all the way through at least once. Made it about 6 sings the second time through. Then, finally on the third try, made it all the way through. By that third time I knew I still wasn't a country fan, but I was a Chris Stapleton fan. He's the real deal - in my, admittedly, country ignorant opinion. Might be worth a try if you aren't much of a country fan but like really good music.

Granted, I am a native Nashvillian, so I have been around a lot of country music, and while I enjoy the old stuff (outlaw country, Dolly, Patsy, Loretta, etc.) and the current alternative country scene (Stapleton, Margo Price, Wall, Peck, Childers, Nikki Lane, et al) there is something fun and nostalgic to me about 90's country. Being able to throw on some Alan Jackson, Garth Brooks, Tim McGraw, etc. is just fun to me. Maybe it is because my wife enjoys it so much. Not sure. Certainly didn't use to be my scene but tastes change I suppose.

If VMP did a country track, I would definitely be interested in seeing what they come up with. Possibly more folk/americana? Love what Soul Step has done on the Americana side with artists like The Local Honeys, Young Heirlooms and Fort Defiance. Would love to explore more of that.

Regardless, I am in the boat that currently VMP cannot run their business successfully with 3 tracks. Why are they trying to add a 4th? I know the answer is money, but still. You would think they would want to get things running smoothly first.

I want them to issue/reissue Brooks & Dunn first 4 albums on wax. Can VMP make that happen? Brand New Man as a Record of the month and the other 3 as exclusives.

Just picked up a copy of the Jaunt VMP Rising! I loved what I heard! I love the dreary, warm, hazy, jazzy sounds of the album! The subtle electronic sounds, and the emotive and moody guitar lines, with those velvety drums on many of the tracks are really nice! Such an instrumentally dense album, but it’s so smooth! Highly recommend this release if you enjoyed the Crumb, Still Woozy, Kate Bollinger & Barrie exclsuives! 👍

Also, this VMP Rising will definitely sell out within the next few weeks! It’s limited to 500 copies, and there’s only 80 copies left! 💨
Glad you picked up the album. This Toronto-based sextet is great 👍 and they're finally getting some much deserved recognition 👏
Equal parts experimental and infectiously groovy, faintly electronic and distinctly soulful, the cornucopia of styles and sounds presented on the album is 👌

Per reddit, it looks like Oliver Nelson’s Skull Session is starting to ship.

And look, I’m not saying I know for a fact that the record isn’t going to look anything like its mockup but... the record isn’t going to look anything like its mockup.

Just brace yourselves and downgrade your expectations accordingly.

@Dead C is gonna love this.

To refresh the memory for when it’s revealed:

Omg, so many artists to check out! I’ll try and check them out but will definitely prioritise checking out Lindi Ortega! 🙂

@TenderLovingKiller® - Orville Peck is a great artist and I’m very happy he’s super popular (I remember he did two sold out shows in Melbourne earlier this year and the both shows had a venue upgrade due to demand). I like the simple guitar playing in “No Glory In The West” but I don’t like the vocals on the song and I don’t like the progression of the song vocally too. I feel bad but I’ve listened to the track 4-5 times and it’s just not for me. And I think it’s the vocals mainly that really put me off.
