Huge start up cost but definitely a way to make more profit long term and hopefully not have as many quality control issues.

VMP Announces New Audiophile-Grade Vinyl Pressing Plant

As VMP approaches a decade of creating transcendent, tangible experiences with music, we are thrilled to announce that we will be opening a new audiophile-grade pressing plant in Denver. The new plant is scheduled to open by the end of 2022 for production, tours and special events.

I figured this would already be the talk of the town. Won’t increase the number of VMP releases I get, but I have to say this is the most interesting thing they’ve done in a long time.

It’ll also be interesting to see if these remain exclusive to “the club” for awhile or if they start supporting wider presses right away.

Given my personal history with VMP, I expect United level quality until constantly proven otherwise.

Encouraged by Dave Rawlings' involvement. Chief Groove Officer sounds like a dumb, made up position, but Dave and Gillian seem to have extremely high standards when pressing their own music, so hopefully he brings that same attention to detail to VMP.

Curious what they will actually be pressing? Just the 4 main tracks? Store exclusives? I assumed that all versions of new releases (black plus color variants) get pressed at one plant, and when VMP does an exclusive that same plant presses VMP's color, but I don't know if that's correct.

Exactly what I was thinking. And yeah, more pressing plants is better. Cautiously optimistic at what we can expect to see from it.

I hope it allows them some more creativity on color ways, pressing numbers, accessibility to labels, etc.

I'm a little curious as to who's footing the bill for this new plant. Will that $52USD International monthly sub breach $60?

there's no way they don't press outside material, the demand for plant space will still be incredibly high and they'd be fools not to if they have the capacity.

definitely an interesting and intriguing development. still, it's vmp, so the trust level that this endeavor bears ripe fruit is pretty low going in.

Salstrom and Rawlings are names that make me optimistic this will be a good thing with high standards.

Less optimistic when I notice more square footage has been assigned to the bar than the QC room though.

Those investors could also ask VMP to increase the cost to cover this venture, so I'm not entirely optimistic that price isn't going to rise in the next year or two.
