I would imagine that pressing all the tracks in house is a long term money saver which would allow prices to stay the same.

Not sure. Idk how much space is needed for stuff like that. But even if it's just 2/4 tracks that has to be a nice saving. Especially if replacement rate drops something like 8% to 4% as a random number.

Sure it will. Nobody is opening a plant with a single press. Besides, a single press would easily handle all 4 tracks monthly. Not only will they have capacity to press all 4 tracks, they will almost certainly expand. Another track, and bring some exclusives that are not just colored variants in house.

Let's not jump all over this negatively. This is a good thing. Nobody will be responsible for QC except VMP. No more GZ complaints. Represses of previous GZ titles that have the potential for better quality. Costs go down, as capital costs are amortized while production costs slice out the middle man.

There's a rather large difference between "jumping all over this negatively" and "simply having questions".
 
Well hopefully it all works out fine. Don’t blame them for ditching GZ. Seems like their heart is in the right place. Cool that they poached from QRP, hopefully all the headaches they went through in the early days will be avoided by the lessons learned. Rest is conjecture at this point, will def be looking to sub when their own pressings come out though.

Expect similar to QRP. The first few months were rocky and quality was hit and miss. Then, they learned, they fixed, they got it together.

When you own the plant, you own the product, and there's nowhere to hide.

The only thing is that if they take their own entire operation in house 30,000+ essentials a month is a capacity beyond most plants that aren’t GZ. Given the huge cost of starting up a plant and for all the initial hype I’ll be flabbergasted if initially they are pressing anything other than classics and select “audiophile” essentials and scaling up gradually.

Edit: Seeing they’ll also be pressing for select founding partners makes this seem even more likely tbh.

One press putting out 40,000 records a month. Given there are roughly 22 working days in a month and 7 working hours in a day that’s 260 records an hour on this one press. Even on shift with it running 24 hours a day that’s 76 a hour which is assuming more than one a minute and no down time between shifts and for breaks.

Why only seven hours a day? A lot of factories have different shifts. They could do like 8-3 and 3-10 or something.

Yeah I also set out one press running 24 hours on shift rotation and it’s still pretty unreasonable to be consistently way over a record a minute given the physical nature of the process. 40,000ish a month, which wouldn’t include exclusives, off one press is a pretty ludicrous claim!
