Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

The two most annoying things now about the price increase are that old banked credit is worth less (a one month swap doesn’t cover a record anymore) and they raised prices after saying that everything is being pressed at GZ until the VMP plant is open.

MAYBE I’ll eventually rejoin if the VMP plant joins the ranks of QRP, RTI, Pallas in terms of quality and the curation gets better. But raising the price after saying you need to start using a lesser plant to plate and press records is kinda crappy.

They did say on discord the other day that it’s actually cheaper for VMP to not bundle shipping. Which is the screwed up state of shipping these days…but sending MORE packages means better volume shipping rate for them apparently

Looked at this yesterday and the funny thing is that with the lower end of the salary for the job, you probably couldn’t afford to be a VMP member.

I think I am actually going to apply for this and see what happens. I work in graphic design and also do photography. I'm definitely a music nerd too so this is the kind of opportunity that would set my soul on fire. The company I work for just laid off a very large number of employees this week so I figure it's a good time to polish up that resume.

I do think it would be a fun job if your passions were music and graphic design. Seems like most people enjoy working there.
 
Did anyone end up getting the latest VMP reissue of the Vince Guaraldi Trio's "A Charlie Brown Christmas"?

My copy arrived the other day and its pretty noisy at the beginning of the A-side. Lots of background noise and crackle. The B-side is actually fine, but before I run it through the cleaner again I just wanted to see if anyone else had this issue?

I didn't get this one but the recent deluxe LP is really great. Cut by KG from high res but sounds really great. Might be worth going for that one instead but not sure the price in the UK.

I was actually tempted by that but it was pricier when I checked before Christmas. I was able to use credit for the VMP one and it was in the sale too if I remember correctly. In all honesty its an album I only play around Christmas time so I'm not really too worried about going overboard.

i think the stereo deluxe ended up being cheaper here than the VMP but can't argue with store credit + cheaper price. I do have the QRP VMP from last year or two years ago and that one is nice too. I hear ya on not going overboard on buying an expensive one of this though. I get about 1 month of listening to it per year but it is by far my favorite chrimbo album.
 
Speaking of VMP Christmas album exclusives, I used the last of my credit back in November on Bobby Timmons - Holiday Soul and the Louis Armstrong - Cool Yule. I thought the Louis album was just ok musically and sonically, but that Bobby Timmons was awesome. Piano jazz trio with a hint of blues and soul-jazz. Paired well with a nice port in the evening or chai in the morning over the holidays.

PS: And if that's the last VMP album I ever get, which with the price increase it easily could be, at least I ended on a good note.

Love that one. I got a CD of it last year and listened to it a ton and was glad it got repressed on vinyl!
