Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

Wait...this is the band that started the whole "Fuck ticket master and their insane pricing" thing?
That band?
Yea and this is why I said that VMP isn’t in charge of the pricing on this one. Hopefully all store exclusives won’t be this much moving forward. I believe VMP and 10 club are the only places that will sell this.

I mean they're not going to put out a press release with "we half-assed it and are going to use it to gouge every last dollar from you. it's gonna make shitty bowls that will wreck needles just by being in the room with them"
True but there's a difference between, "Hey, look at these pants. These are pretty nice pants eh? We think you're going to love these pants."
And:
"These are the best pants ever made, these are pants fit for Jesus himself, if you have any other pants, look down on them for they are now lesser pants."

I mean I get it, but maybe get past the BlUeNoWte BoRX inaugural portion of the creation process before you start in with the pomp. That being said, I hope the plant is awesome, more good pressing plants are a good thing in my books.

I get that VMP very rightfully deserves some shit for stuff they say or do (or prices they charge). But I’ll say them opening a pressing plant and seemingly getting all the right people involved in it isn’t one of the things they should be shat on for doing (until we see the results at least). Another pressing plant in the US is a good thing, especially when people complain about delays or there not being enough space at pressing plants for smaller artists to get pressings made. Same with MoFi opening a plant. At worst it’ll free up space at plants like RTI for other people to get their albums pressed. At best it’ll be another place to get good sounding records from.

Eddie needs a new pair of shoes?
Eddie does have to pay for those 200 dollar bottles of wine he chugs on stage each night.

But in all seriousness, they have a lot of employees that have been working with the band since day 1, and supposedly they are taken care of pretty well. I don’t think it’s so much greed as profit sharing.

Somewhere in the mid 2000s they became more of a merch selling machine than a band.

I think for me, I agree with the "more pressing plants the better" thing.
I think though, I'm being pretty reactionary when the messaging from the start was "You're not going to be paying more for records because we opened a pressing plant", but then the first drop I see from that plant is pretty much one of their highest priced 2LPs they've put out.

I understand maybe it's PJ themselves that have decided to charge an arm and a leg, but man from my perspective it's not a fantastic start.

Completely fair point. I just don’t think VMP set the price on this one. Expecting exclusives will continue to range in confusing pricing though. Sometimes just below other options when shipping is accounted for, other times wildly more expensive.

Yah, PJ only ships UPS. It's annoying. But it tends to come safely.

For anyone on the fence, I have a word of advice when it comes to Pearl Jam vinyl:

If you have the opportunity to purchase one, you should do it. Because it is quite possible you will never see it near a reasonable price again.

Your friendly Ten Club member since 2000.

As someone who bought the Benroya Hall box set for 40 bucks when it went on sale in 2004, I concur.
