Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

I think my clear no code was at least $40, iirc.

PJ has us conditioned to pay that much as they tend to charge $50+ for their vault releases.

The TEN and Vs/Vitalogy boxsets seem like an absolute steal today. I think those were like $70 or so.

Just checked my order on the clear No Code - it was $32, shipping was $13.

Best deal I ever got was my copy of the Ten Super Deluxe box set - won it with a $5 raffle ticket at a Wishlist pre-party/fundraiser. Although that also kickstarted my vinyl habit, so maybe it wasn't a great deal after all.

plus different master (which maybe goes without saying) and different pressing plant obviously. it would not be a surprise if the VMP one sounds better.
is it a diff master? the 2016/2019 master was redone for vinyl (ie, it wasn't the 1998 master)

I wonder if it's this mix

if it's 2LP vs 1 LP, it has to be a new master right...? they have to recut it.

Can't they just do a new cut from the existing master?

I think we may be mixing up masters and plates(aka metal work) here.

I am no expert. But, I believe the master is the tape(or high res digital). They use the master to make plates to press the vinyl.
I am not aware of needing to do anything specific with the master in order for it to be a 1LP or 2LP release. But again, I'm no expert.

To be fair, the Vault releases are generally top quality and fairly limited. The $50 for a 2 or 3 LP pressed at RTI in the special bookbinding sleeve seems reasonable compared with the $35 standard release single LPs coming out these days. But that $15 to $20 shipping fee has led me to skip a couple of them. And the fact that I'm somewhat afraid they're giong to relase a ton of them at once like they did with the bootleg CDs back in 2001/2002. If I buy all of them as they release them now, I'll have to buy all of those if they do a batch, right? :)

Correct. I was talking about a mastered mix and @MikeH is talking about the vinyl master (which is the precursor to the mother).

yea--this is what i was referring to. it'll have to be a different vinyl master. and even if you had the same master tape, it would sound different depending on who cuts it. Looks like Levi Seitz cut this one. I don't have any of his work but looks like he has cut about 10 different live Pearl Jam albums for vinyl + Eddie's Earthling solo album.

Damnit. This overpriced Pearl Jam (combined with the Columbia House Deal) might get me back. I saw PJ on this tour in '98, and I've always kinda felt like Yield was underrated. But...do I really want to hook back up with VMP? (Let's hope I don't drink too much tonight.)
