Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

I love yield. I just can’t stomach $70 for this record. Is Levi Seitz an audiophile engineer?

I searched through my collection and Levi Seitz comes up three times. Nothing audiophile, but for what it's worth, all three records are extremely nice pressings. Chris Isaak "Heart Shaped World" reissue from 2022, Pearl Jam "Live at Easy Street" and The Donnas "Spend The Night" ROG reissue. Anyway, does not scream "keep away" and if anything, it's somewhat positive.

It's more the black box of how VMP's pressing plant will fare that's making me waffle. Well, that and the price, obviously. But a 2xLP pressing of Yield is definitely tempting.

If I were to join for the Columbia House deal, what are your opinions on the best records I should go for (pressing quality, music, etc)? I haven't really kept up on pressing flaws and various issues over the last while. The only records I picked up over the last year and a half were Thin Lizzy, Sun Ship and Interpol.

Johnnie Taylor, Bill Withers, Townes Van Zandt, Yusef Lateef, Shape of Jazz To Come, Dinah Washington, Tribe, The Phaycyde were my recent faves

john mayer -- everyone raves about it. i'm not a fan but anyone who kinda likes the music goes on and on about it.

fiona is beautiful. packaging is kinda plain but whatever, it sounds great.

blossom dearie, gabor dreams, immortal otis, muddy waters, yusef lateef, patsy cline showcase, yakhal inkomo, sigur ros are all wonderful

absolutely amazing sound and presentation: gabor szabo dreams, here comes phineas, aretha spirit in the dark, charlie gabriel. IMO must-haves.

Blonde on Blonde sounds amazing. And a +1 to the John Mayer rec.

Everyone's recommendations have been great, and if you're at all into country, I'd consider these:
Willie Nelson - Shotgun Willie
Waylon Jennings - Honky Tonk Heroes

I don't listen to much country, but I've enjoyed those two. Oh, and the Gram Parsons and International Submarine Band LPs are good, too.

But those are adding to a long list you've already got going. I'd pick Otis Redding and Shape of Jazz to Come (and maybe Gabor Szabo) before any of those I just mentioned.

Any EU folk take them up on the 12 month deal with 8 records? Seems like a decent price per record now that they're also including VAT up front.

Is it safe to assume you won't get dinged further on customs with those 8 free records?

Been out of the loop for a while. How to store purchases work for internationals. Do you have to pay additional fees per shipment or is that included in the membership?

Another question. Are all tracks being pressed at GZ now? Nothing special with Classics anymore now that QRP pretty much does only AP stuff? How have GZ been in all this? Have issues continued to creep up in the various tracks?

everything is at GZ until the new plant opens. I've been re-subbed the past few months and haven't had any issues really. i still prefer QRP/RTI but I will say I haven't had any real stinkers lately.

I'm down to 1 ROTM per month though and maybe less with the next few months.

Am I an asshole if I reached out to CS about a replacement jacket for one of the “free” records I got? Two came with seam splits, but one is noticeably bad. Like 5 inches and a good chunk of the record is coming through the sleeve.
Nope! I would do the same (and will probably have to when I sign back up). At this point, at these prices replacements due to shitty packaging are factored in.
