There’s a 40% off code floating around for Veteran’s Day.
2023HERO40
I can confirm that it works on pre-orders, including anthologies.
I wish I could combine discount and store credits

Surely VMP isn’t dumb enough to put out a code meant for a very specific group of people without some sort of verification step that’s easily attained….
I mean do they know how the internet works? People are not going to follow those rules. Not saying I’m condoning it, but information like that will spread without context so fast on the internet circles.
I can send them a copy of my EMT certificate if they like. Unsure what else they could do to verify...It is my understanding that they will move soon and they have been doing everything to clear up their shelves. Not sure they'll check anything.
Yeah, I’m just saying if they were really keen on making it exclusive for specific people, they could’ve easily had that in place. There are ways to do that.It is my understanding that they will move soon and they have been doing everything to clear up their shelves. Not sure they'll check anything.
Yeah I wasn’t even aware that it was intended for only a specific group of people. I just saw it on Reddit without context and wanted to share it here… I feel kinda weird about using it now.Surely VMP isn’t dumb enough to put out a code meant for a very specific group of people without some sort of verification step that’s easily attained….

Yep not blaming any of you at all. The person on Reddit posted it knowing well this was meant for active military, vets and EMT. I won’t be shocked if they cancel orders or ask for proof. I had posted this info on that thread and it was downvote to oblivion and some really shitty responses were posted.Yeah I wasn’t even aware that it was intended for only a specific group of people. Too late for me - I saw it and used it on the Miles that I was going to buy with the next sale. Probably wouldn’t have used it if I knew the context, but again, it’s the internet and Veterans Day sales are very common. Didn’t think anything of it. Just like Memorial Day sales that every single store has.Yeah I wasn’t even aware that it was intended for only a specific group of people. Yea—you didn’t know. There are clearly people who know abusing the code though. Obviously VMP shouldn’t have done this code openlyToo late for me - I saw it and used it on the Miles that I was going to buy with the next sale. Yeah, it's a company. They're making money no matter what. Using it isn't hurting veterans, it takes nothing away from them. VMP isn't really doing any sort of charity here.It their intention was to somehow support veterans, they would give a percentage of their sales to veterans associations. Here they just want to sale more records in a kind of weird way.
Yeah you’re right. For a moment I felt bad, but now I don’t care. And I’m sure VMP doesn’t either. It their intention was to somehow support veterans, they would give a percentage of their sales to veterans associations. Here they just want to sale more records in a kind of weird way.
yup. honestly. It their intention was to somehow support veterans, they would give a percentage of their sales to veterans associations. Here they just want to sale more records in a kind of weird way.
And considering 40% just gets their prices to a reasonable level, I won't feel too bad about it either.Yeah you’re right. For a moment I felt bad, but now I don’t care. And I’m sure VMP doesn’t either.
Last time they gave a percentage of sales to a charity people shat on them too for not giving ALL the proceeds to charity. It their intention was to somehow support veterans, they would give a percentage of their sales to veterans associations. it's a win lose. I am all for percentages of sales to charity though.Last time they gave a percentage of sales to a charity people shat on them too for not giving ALL the proceeds to charity.
Kinda wish I’d read the rest of the thread before placing an order. You’re right. In principle there were a ton of ways VMP could maybe have done this differently to prevent it from being passed about the net but having read the comments that came after the code was posted I’ve zero beef if VMP pull my order. Just means I’ll be back to the double Alicia Keys rather than the triple.I think it was a nice gesture for people who have served or are first responders. Cam did it because he’s former military. I sent it to a few family members who love music and are vets or currently serving and they appreciated it and picked up some stuff. I’m personally skipping out on this coupon because it feels icky for me to use it knowing who it’s meant to be for. They definitely should have utilized some kind of gov ID system to let people be eligible.
Some of the Reddit comments are truly disgusting though.
Well said. It’s this kinda attitude that makes this little corner of the internet so enjoyable for me.I don't know how they advertised it but I didn't see anything on it other than here, and I personally don't think it matters but I didn't use it only because there wasn't anything I wanted right now.
But I very strongly don't think a company should rely on customers explaining the rules of discount codes on the internet. Not saying at all that it's wrong to explain or speak on someone's feelings about it, just that VMP should have just explained what it was and who it was for on their website, or sent user specific one-time use codes if that was their intent. That's their responsibility and to think otherwise is odd to me regardless of the impetus for this one which clearly touches on folks' political beliefs and feelings, so it's obviously going to be a bit touchy.
I think my own take probably pisses some off, but I have a ton of veterans for students and live by a massive VA where a lot of the folks who use the community food bank my wife works at across the street and I volunteer at are veterans, so I deal with a lot of related issues because I talk to vets nearly every day. And I'm not saying at all that people shouldn't get to enjoy themselves and that the thought of this isn't "nice," it is nice that they did it. But veterans and first responders who actually need help in this country are too broke or broken to pay their bills and get medical care, they aren't really going and buying records. So to me, this just isn't even a thing worth getting stressed or upset over. Get upset about the homeless vets and the tax breaks that rich folks get which could be funding housing for them. Get upset about the first responders with cancer who go bankrupt with medical debt.
And just cause this is the internet and tone doesn't come across well, I don't think anyone here has been rude or a jerk about it and this isn't meant to be directed at anyone on here, just me sharing my thoughts. I respect @MikeH sharing his thoughts on this too, even if mine are a little different.
my wife used to work in risk management and shakes her head at nearly everything VMP does from a business standpoint haha. For a company that’s 10ish years old they fly by the seats of their pants so much. And simple things would save them a ton of money.I don't know how they advertised it but I didn't see anything on it other than here, and I personally don't think it matters but I didn't use it only because there wasn't anything I wanted right now.
