Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

VMP is funny.

So after everything was locked in, I set my membership to cancel. Then today, I went in and cancelled my PayPal agreement with them because I’ve seen one too many posts about people getting charged erroneously.

These dumb fucks sent me an email stating that my payment method had been cancelled and my membership may cancel as a result.

If I'm going to spend several hundred dollars to own a compilation of stand up comedy from many disparate comedians that I will definitely not get sick of after 3 listens, I definitely want that several hundred dollars to go towards the least convenient media format as is humanly possible because I love nothing more than listening to the same collection of comedy routines over and over WITHOUT SKIPPING A DAMNED THING BECAUSE YOU KNOW WHO SKIPPING IS FOR?

I have one month left (February will be my last ROTM) and a bit of credit. Had thought of picking up the Blue Note box but it has gone up in price by $40 and the shipping is also up to $49. So that's a hard pass now. Might wait and see if the Broadcast exclusive gets out of preorder stage in February but that's me done.

I’m still debating the nonesuch orders. If I cancel if get $192 back in credit and €75 in cash. But I’m guessing whatever I get instead will need a chunk of the credit just to cover postage.

Considered Blue Note but that needs another 20% for customs too

I think everything they release gets released elsewhere eventually, lately pretty much they are getting a variant release of some larger drop. I thought the FJM recent release might buck trend and be a planned press of their ROTM but no that was part of a larger remaster. TBH that’s so old it may have been a standard pressing at the time.

I sincerely hope that this is the case and there is a wider release.
On the other hand, I said the same thing about Wu-Tang after getting four terrible copies, and there still isn't a stand-alone 2LP version of that :(

And this El Guincho album is SO. DAMN. GOOD.

@MadLucas I don’t think this is true…these are not store variants. These are essentially their ROTMs and exclusive cuts done by RKS and are not wide releases. I think el guincho will be an open preorder starting Friday.

Whether or not a different version is pressed later is a different story. But not sure the last ROTM that was from the same plates and pressed and sold elsewhere. Outside of stuff that VMP wholesaled but that’s unlikely to happen here IMO
