Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

The pressing plant had a codename? God I hope it was something like Operation Taco Bowl.
yea--we knew this. Cam called it "Project Willy Wonka" lol.

I'm so confused - didn't they literally post a floor plan of the plant online like 4 years ago (with the giant bar and tiny QC room)? Does no one on the VMP board have the internet?
In the lawsuit, VMP claimed that Cam and Co had VMP employees sign NDAs for Project Willy Wonka and spend time (and company money) on the plant before they told the board about it. Their company google calendars had events in them to discuss "Project Willy Wonka" with companies that made pressing machines and stuff hah.

I totally forgot this. Cam was a genius. Should have called it Project We-are-stealing-corporate-money-to-fund-our-pet-project, but then you can’t call your staff Oompa Loompas so I understand why he went with Willy Wonka
he wanted to call it that, but it wouldn't fit in all the email headings and calendar invites he sent out about it on his company email account.

i cancelled my Fela. Realized that I didn't need a compilation especially since I believe some of the songs are abridged (think @yukbon mentioned this?).

Picked up some of the Barclays reissues instead and think they are great
Yeah they are but honestly I don't mind abridged when we're talking about 20 minute songs.

I mean if you've heard a Fela album you know the way the songs go: side-long 15 to 20 minute jams, first half is mostly instrumental with some solos and maybe some rhythmic vocals or the occasional call-and-response, but then around the 10 minute mark the solos die down and Fela's like LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT SOME BULLSHIT. Most of the songs on the comp are the vocal parts -- lots of solos cut out completely or cut down significantly.

Here's the original in it's 20-minute glory:

And here's the 12 miunute edit that they use on "Best Best":

Damn I did not know that the songs were edited. Looking at the track list now though, I should’ve realized it.

Fela needs to be full-length. That's my 2 cents.

This.
Same here. Oddly enough I took a whole Fela class in college (I think it was technically African diaspora music, but my professor really loved Fela) - feels to me like an edited down Fela song is kind of like the equivalent of a Walmart clean version. Just not the same and not what the artist wanted to accomplish.

Alright.... you're convincing me. How do you cancel orders at this point? Do you just go through the general question form on the website and just write Cancellation?
Yea or if that was the only thing in that order, you can reply to the confirmation email and say you want to cancel the order. If you ordered it with other items, be careful in your wording because the AI may cancel the entire order 😂

I mean it was ordered like almost a year ago, I suppose I can go and find that email....

I'd say just pick 1 or 2 of his albums that attract you the most and go from there. Can't really go wrong with any of his 70's output.

I have Fela pressings that run the gamut, some originals, some 90's reissues and some more recent. The only one I really dislike is a copy of Zombie from the 90's pressed in the US. That's garbage. My originals (one Canadian, 3 US) sound good but are noisy. The two French reissues from the 90's I have are good. Also, the recent 50th anniversary issues are fine as well, if you find them on sale (I imagine VMP was going to use Knitting Factory plates anyway?).

Yeah I've got a recent press of Expensive Shit and it's pretty crap. And I have a recent pressing of Ginger Baker and it's awesome.
