Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

How's their quality? I'm always dubious of the instagram products...
We have a couple of them…been a few years…washed about a dozen times…perfect guilt free purchase for when you leave your dogs at home for longer than expected.

Matt, if you are reading this…please still press Toussaint or I send you the used ruggables.

i asked for a refund for toussaint. would be surprised if it makes it especially since they started splitting orders with preorders to ship the instock stuff unasked.

What are ppl thinking re: the Fela Box actually shipping? Supposed to be next month & "confirmed print in production," but damn, I've got next to zero confidence that it will happen.

Yeah I think they need a "we actually paid the pressing plant for this" column on the tracker now. Because it doesn't really matter if the box was produced if they didn't pay - similar to the Bandbox situation.

From what I gather, you pay in installments to press. Probably pay some percentage (say half) up front, then pay rest when pressing is finished. For Bandbox, the smaller plants held a lot of stuff towards the end because they wanted payment and never got it. Unsure if they didn't get ANY up front and trusted them, or just never got paid the remainder...from the plants I talked to though, they got really screwed. Didn't get paid for their work, and couldn't keep or sell the records and had to hand the records over to VNYL.

Anything that isn't marked as pressing already I would be worried about. Not even sure that stuff at the plants will be sent out because VMP will still have to finish paying the plants, then pay to have the orders shipped and fulfilled. I doubt they have any money coming in at all. People aren't gonna sign up for new memberships at this point. People are asking for refunds, etc. The cash from people with current memberships is probably already mostly spent.

More about rarity. I used referral credit on em. Theoretically, they are the freshest off the stampers. But they also run the risk of not being an approved test pressing or having some kinda issue.

The only test pressings I usually go after are records that never made it past the test pressing stage. There are a lot of test pressings that VMP did that got killed for one reason or another (label decided they wanted to do it themselves late in the game, artist pulled out, etc.). I believe there's a Miseducation of Lauryn Hill RKS cut that VMP did that never saw the light of day because Lauryn won't approve it.

There are a lot of Speakers Corner test pressings on discogs for stuff they never actually released, like Occasional Rain by Terry Callier.
Funny you mention Occasional Rain. That is actually one of the few test pressings I have and can’t remember when or how I acquired it. Sounds great though! Just spun it again for the first time in a long while.
