Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

I'll say this I am glad I am done with VMP. Two of the last few records I got through the club I had to get replacements on for skipping and even the replacements skip. What a shitshow that company is. Not just a skip here or there, I mean skipping all over on both sides. Ronnie Milsap and Ramones.
Maybe a silly thought but did you check your antiskate? I only mention it because the same thing was happening to a buddy of mine with his VMP pressings even though he couldn’t see any damage to the pressings. Realized his anti skate had fallen off (one of those fishing line ones) and then it was fixed

Yeah, I have both Ramones and neither skipped. No Milsap though. I had a record that I had skips on it and its replacements, turned out my Tracking Force was off. Always worth checking that your gear is still set up correctly.

But wouldn’t it be happening on all records I listened to and not just these?

Not necessarily. Stuff that’s more dynamic, or cut hotter can make the needle jump causing a skip if tracking force and antiskate aren’t properly set up.
Yeah agreed on this. I think everyone knows how many issues I've had with VMP pressings. In all that time I have not had a single skip on any record they sent me. And I have a copy of that Ramones pressing that another member sent me that skipped on his system, and it was perfect on mine. Not to say it shouldn't be an issue because it shouldn't. But when it comes to really dynamic pressings it can be tough on some tables/carts or stuff that's maybe out of alignment.

Glad it plays fine on your system.

With me, it was just the one record. 🤷‍♀️
Ok, I’ll look into it. I know I set up the tracking force to the specs it stated, not sure about the skating, I’m kind of a dummy with this stuff. I have a Fluance RT 82. Thanks for all your help people.

Thanks for educating me. Hopefully all this helps.

Dude. I didn't want to @ you but like... it's perfect. Like of every single VMP album I've ever gotten... It's the goddamn golden idol. I'm... So... So sorry. But also I am very grateful... But also I'm so sorry.

Oh man, it's way all good. I know I need to upgrade my setup, and now I know for sure my copy will be fine when that time comes. Plus I was able to get one to you, still have a spare AND get a refund. I'm pretty good with that.

My pal, as is usually the case, that copy you got me, was probably the flattest most perfect VMP pressing I own. I owe you. Whenever you want a totally jacked up warped to shit warbly crackly nightmare record... YOU CALL ME

Ah I mean it sucks either way. It's not your fault or anything, just that depending on the gear it can have issues with skipping. It shouldn't, but it can.
Plus It’s a trade off since your system makes Pallas pressings sound like dog shit so there are +/- with having a setup that cost more than an average person’s automobile. It doesn’t skip but it picks up even the tiniest defects.

HOW DARRRE YOUUU no actually what you're saying has a lot of merit fuck goddammit I have been hoisted on my own petard.

No warping, sounded great on first listen, although I didn't have it cranked up as loud as I'd like. But I think it fixes the sound issues I had on my original copy. I just wish it didn't take 14 months to have received that replacement. 😩
I've finally had time to crank it up, and it's fucking fantastic. The clicks/pops from my original copy are absent aside from a small amount of that trademark GZ crackle in the deadwax. That's what really drove me to wanting a replacement were the pops throughout Solitude, the absolute quietest song on the entire album. Thankfully, none of that is here.

I am noticing people commenting on discogs about sound issues and physical pits on their records which is... concerning. But I will say my copy, at least, is blemish-free.

Someone will need to make a new entry for this on discogs at some point, the runouts are slightly different so that should make it fairly easy for people to determine which copy they have, at least.

What’s the new deadwax say?
