I was talking to a worker at a record store and explaining stuff I liked and they recommended Ohio Players to me. I've never listened to them but definitely need to, is this a good place to start? Or is there something else you'd recommend listening to first?

Picked up this 2LP blues blast today for a buck. Little wear on the jacket, vinyl plays great.

Sides 2/3/4 are comprised of 2 songs totaling 60 minutes.

I was talking to a worker at a record store and explaining stuff I liked and they recommended Ohio Players to me. I've never listened to them but definitely need to, is this a good place to start? Or is there something else you'd recommend listening to first?

I'm far from an Ohio Players aficionado. I'm sure there are others here that can give more sound advice.

With that said, I have 3 of their albums - Fire, Honey and Observations In Time. The first two are split pretty evenly between funk and slow jams. You're likely to hear a song or two on each that you know. Observations is much more in a soul/blues kind of vein. Reminds me of The Temptations a bit with some Stax thrown in.
