Mono version cut by Ryan Smith. Did the A/B with the Keven Gray stereo (2010, Sony Legacy) and I'm happy I own both....the mono is a bargain for any on the fence and sounds amazing.
starting back up my run through of the floyd records a little later than i was planning, so we’ll see if i can make it through the rest tonight or not.
if i could go back in time and see only one show it would be one from the animals tour. here’s a recording of pigs from montreal 1977, during which roger waters spit on a fan, an event that was one of the catalysts for creating the wall.
by the time you get to not now john on the final cut and you hear david gilmour’s voice for the first time the whole record, it’s a breath of fresh air.
this is the only record of theirs that i feel truly sounds dated/a product of its time. even the early syd records have some timelessness to them. i used to enjoy this album quite a bit when i was younger and had less exposure to the rest of the floyd albums.
just remember, this guy and his hair played on this album and tour:
i’ve got a soft spot for this album, which was the first - and what for a long time i thought would be the only - NEW pink floyd record to come out after i became a fan. their june 22 show here in 1994 was the first concert i ever went to. i spent countless nights falling asleep to the cd playing on my cheap philco bookshelf stereo. it’s not the best floyd album, but it means a lot to me.
