Al Green – Call Me (London Records, 1973 First UK Pressing)
Man, this is glorious! Such a killer album and this pressing is fantastic! Damn good purchase! I will have to test it alongside the VMP one at some point.
Gene Ammons - Boss Tenor (Esquire, 1963 First UK Mono Pressing - But its the wrong sleeve)
This is one which I have had on my 'to deep clean' pile for a while as it was filthy. Just cleaned it now and it sounds killer, luckily it was just layers of grime that was covering it rather than scratches. This is an interesting one as, besides having the wrong sleeve, its by all intents and purposes the exact same as the 1960 Prestige pressing. Esquire used the exact same stampers so the only thing different is the label (it even has the RVG stamp and Prestige matrix in the run out. So the whole notion that Esquire pressings are more expensive because they sound better is just nonsense. They do sound great, but no more so than their US counterpart.
