That’s The Way I Feel Now! A Tribute To Thelonious Monk , a fun tribute featuring Joe Jackson, Donald Fagen, Dr John, Bobby McFerrin, and a whole host of Jazz musicians . 23 tracks over 2 slabs of vinyl.
The pub around the corner from where I live has lots of photos of artists/celebrities/actors that have a connection to the town. Apparently Zacron, the artist that designed the Led Zeppelin 3 cover, was born in this town.
Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers Live At Ronnie Scotts
Another cassette. From Blakey's chat in-between tracks I imagine this was recorded around 1975. The line-up is Art Blakey - Drums, Walter Davis, Jr. - Piano, Bill Hardman - Trumpet, David Schnitter - Tenor Saxophone, Yoshio "Chin" Suzuki - Bass. Really fantastic session with lots of solos and interplay.
I'm starting the long task of listening to each cassette from a haul a few weeks ago and writing down any info I gather from the compere and musicians talking in between tracks. This Art Pepper is the most intriguing recording so far because it was recorded a week before the sessions included in 'The Complete Art Pepper At Ronnie Scott's Club London June 1980' box set (which therefore isn't complete!). His band here include Art Pepper - Alto Saxophone & Clarinet, Tony Dumas - Bass, Carl Burnett - Drums, Milcho Leviev - Piano.
Charles Lloyd Live at the Royal Festival Hall 1997.
One last cassette and I will stop bombarding the thread (well, before I move onto records). This is a live session taken from his Royal Festival Hall Performance in London, 1997. Line-up is Charles Lloyd - Tenor Saxophone, Bobo Stenson - Piano, Anders Jormin - Double Bass and Billy Hart - Drums.
