N&G 500 - my top 50

#39: Antonio Sanches - Buli Povo

Last one of the night. One of the most extraordinary African albums. I searched for this for ages - even sending a friend of mine who was an air hostess to look for it when she flew to Cabo Verde - but I finally got it thanks to Analog Africa. Mad synths make it unlike pretty much anything else I have from West Africa.

I picked this up blind on RSD a few years ago (when it was released). Such a great album, im going to have to dig it out again soon!

Grant Green - Am I Blue (Blue Note, 1964 First Mono Pressing)

I have seen some negative comments about this recently online, with people saying its bland. I couldn't disagree more, not every album has to be full force all the way through. I actually like the more laid back approach that Grant Green and his sidemen take on this album, its a refreshing change from the rest of his catalogue of music (not that this doesn't have moments of pure energy as well!).
