Somehow in 2005 I ended up with a backstage pass for REM at one gig and it turned out it worked for their whole tour so I followed them around Europe for a while. I met Peter Buck briefly that first gig and I asked for Cuyahoga - still makes me giddy every time it comes on.
Ended up having not as much time as i expected the past couple days on top of doing three takes of Fear of Music because I can't help myself. At any rate, the first in the “Dub so that I can sell” category,
Moby - Play
Maybe I should buy a copy of Selected Ambient Works 85-92 with the money I get from this.
Oasis weren't the first band I was into by any stretch, but they were the first I was into from the very beginning. I bought all their singles as they came out, saw them live several times in 94 and 95, and basically had the time of my 15-year-old life. Such a great soundtrack to those years.
The Jimmy Giuffre 3 & 4 – New York Concerts (Elemental Music, 2020 RSD Limited Pressing)
I was hoping to get this on RSD but everywhere in the UK seemed to have it sold out, so I ended up ordering directly from Spain and it STILL turned out cheaper than if I was to have bought it here. Its a really unexpected avant-garde session. Really out there compared with a lot of his other music. From the claps at the end of certain tracks I assume this was a live recording, but I have yet to read the liner notes so maybe that will clear it up. Just fantastic!
I ummed and aahed between this and Nevermind, and went with this just because I listen to Nirvana more live than studio these days. An incredible concert.
Joe Henderson - The State Of The Tenor (Live From At The Village Vanguard Volume 1)
Really digging this Tone Poet release, its one which has had a lot of platter time since I picked it up a few weeks ago. Really great session, all the musicians are on fire.
