The Tubby Hayes Quintet - Late Spot At Scott's (Fontana, 2019 Gearbox Records Pressing)
I decided to do a comparative test of these 2 records (which meant I got to listen to them twice!!) seeing as I have some spare time. Just killer music throughout, I would have loved to be in the audience for this!
For some reason, every so often, I get the urge to spin this one. Definitely not their best but certainly not their worst. I haven’t paid much attention to their stuff after American Idiot but they will always have a special place in my heart as the band that opened up a whole other world of music.
