This shipped on November 30th. It arrived today after spending 3 weeks at the DC distribution center. Thank you, Republican members of Congress for not giving a fuck about funding the USPS. ANYWAY, great EP. Very lo-fi recordings here, I love the aesthetic. Poppy was the last show I saw, back in February, at the now tragically closed for good U Street Music Hall (also in DC, coincidentally). Can't wait for her next album!
I made an initial ranking of my favourite records of this year, and this album is the one that climbed the most after I actually listened to everything again. It is so well recorded, maybe the best-sounding record involving Tony Allen of all. It makes you feel right in the middle of his drum kit. And I love the interplay between the two. A fabulous album.
Sunday morning Tone Poet. Audiophile sound quality once again. Coming to jazz a bit to late in life has one advantage. Getting to experience these titles for the first as if they were new releases. Really like this one.
This should have been released by somebody back in 1978 when it was made....not shelved for 20 years and all the various overdub versions
released instead.
