What's Spinning

I used to love Becoming a Jackal and then lost track of Villagers. They have done some solid albums since though! Just started listening to them again.

Yeah Conor has released a really steady run of albums over the last decade. This newest one is excellent, the title couldn’t be more apt either!

I still haven't watched this movie...even though I bought the digital copy when it came out.

Spent the last two hours with all 6 sides of this beautiful Holly Bowling record.

My first exposure to Holly was about 5 years ago at the Warren Haynes Xmas Jam. This is a marathon of an annual concert (7PM-4AM) and Holly played all the music between set changes. She blew me away.

Holly is a classically trained pianist that loves jam bands and The Grateful Dead. She melds both passions to create beautiful solo piano interpretations of GD tunes. And she's a total craftswoman when it comes to these songs.

Check out this video where she breaks down what she's doing on Terrapin Station. And then check out the entire song. So cool. A highly recommended record...

Patti Smith - Horses
Compro Oro - Subarban Exotica

Horses is a bit of a bitter one for me - the source of my only negative feedback on Discogs. Cover was rated VG+ with no comments and came with a huge patch torn/worn off it. I was new-ish to Discogs so gave the seller a neutral rating, he gave me a negative one in return. Grrrr... Plus excellent, exotic Belgian jazz.
