I was looking for a copy of this album not to long ago because it was a jukebox staple at the bar I worked at a couple decades ago. Then this morning for the first time ever Goodwill had a couple records I actually wanted that were in decent shape, including this one for $0.50 each!
1976 US Santa Maria Pressing. Some light inaudible paper marks on vinyl but it is still shiny and quiet. Sounds great. Moving it from backroom to music room. Solid play copy.
Abdullah Sami - Peace Of Time (Spiritmuse Records, 2019 Limited Pressing)
Father Tom Vaughn - Joyful Jazz (Concord Jazz, 1976 First Pressing)
These might not appear to go together.....because they dont. But they are both fantastic, superb stuff from start to finish. The Abdullah Sami is a reissue of an incredibly obscure and rare spiritual jazz album. The Joyful Jazz is from another obscure musician, a priest by day and jazz pianist by night.
In this corner, the undisputed RSD Champion for best music with the worst packaging. An LP housed in an inner sleeve with an insert? When did Don King start pressing vinyl?
Pretenders - Live! At The Paradise Theatre, Boston, 1980
What an underappreciated artist. Most folks will lump Elvin into 70's southern rock but his blues work with Paul Butterfield is so good and so much of his solo stuff is more funk and soul than swamp rock.
