Basil Kirchin - Worlds Within Worlds (Columbia/Trunk Records, 2019 Limited Pressing)

I have played this a lot recently and it really is pretty incredible. Kirchin took manipulated field recordings of animals, drones-like sounds, and free jazz and combined them into a really cool album. Not as 'out there' as other examples of free jazz and equally not as 'straight ahead'. It kind of sits in the middle space but with plenty of experimental leanings. The original is mega rare and im not going to be spending £1k any time soon on a copy, so glad this reissue from Johnny Trunk exists!
