What's Spinning

Spin #4 of the day

Rush "2112" (1976 Mercury; 2015 AAA reissue pressed at QRP)
So I ended up with this album for free. I had ordered Moving Pictures and accidently was sent this Rush record instead. Seller reimbursed and told me to keep it. I actually never really listened to this one and I have to say it's pretty good. Not as proggy as I feared. The sound of this pressing is insanely good too. Dynamics and details are amazing. Cool hologram in the deadwax of side B. Anyway, lucked out despite my bad luck it seems.

Finally roped my white whale (are those the appropriate metaphors?)

Tom Waits - Rain Dogs, 2007 Pressing "Made in Holland." The printing on the jacket looks like some shit VMP would pull (looking at you Blossom Dearie & Merle Haggard). Sounds pretty damn good though. Anybody else experience this pressing?

Yup! This is the version I have. It’s alright. I bought it used in like 2008 for like $18.

Kingfish - Trident

This one is just ok. They really started to move in a direction I don't care for on this album. It's starting to get that 80s stench of soft rock on a few tracks. But some still have the great blues rock sound. Really though it's just the first studio and first live album that are great.

Picked this up from Plaidroom last week. Really nice pressing!

Alfa Mist - Antiphon (2xLP Import)

For fans of Kamaal Williams, Yusef Dayes, Comet is Coming, and all those other artists popping in the contemporary British jazz scene. The drumming on this record is so so fine. Highly recommended!
