What's Spinning

Colin Walcott-Grazing Dreams, for those that like a little Sitar and Tabla with their Jazz.

Since I'm going through my cd collection there have been some that I felt needed to get played, but this was the first that I actually am spinning.

MD.45 – The Craving
Slab Recordings – 36616-2, 1996

Original pressing with Lee Ving's vocals. It was later reissued with Dave Mustaine re-doing the vocals, because the vocal tapes were "lost".

Obviously I'm a fan of the Lee Ving sung vocals - the reissue makes it more of a Megadeth album...which doesn't work for me.

And I don't think this is a Metallica/Lou Reed "Lulu" situation.

Sonny Rollins - Way Out West (Contemporary Records, 1958 First UK Mono Pressing) &
(Contemporary Records, 2018 Craft Deluxe Edition Box Set)

Decided to run a little A/B comparison on the original UK Mono pressing of Sonny Rollins' "Way Out West" alongside the Craft box set from 2018. There was some back and forth at the time about whether the box was AAA or digital which in my opinion kind of doesn't matter when you are at the point where you don't know from listening. Anything after that is surely semantics. Anyway, it has been a while since I listened to the box set and as I remembered, it holds up incredibly well, nice and punchy, with plenty of clarity between instruments. No need for the new upcoming set on my end.
