What's Spinning

Oh that’s a pity. I normally really like Chris Bellman’s mastering, especially with the earlier Waits ones he did for rhino a while back. GZ is a pity though…
Oh, interesting - did Bellman really do these? I didn't see anything in the runouts (thought I checked, but can't remember for sure), but it looks like he's listed in Discogs.

Either way - yeah, I have the Bellman/Rhino version of Closing Time and that one is fantastic. These don't sound like that - could be because there's so much music crammed onto a single disc, though.

I can’t see CB in the run outs of Rain Dogs but his name was in the adverts and he’s listed on cogs. And yeah the cramming of the music is definitely not going to help but Swordfishtrombones, which is all I’ve listened to so far, definitely sounds better than the last island digital remaster but not as good as the 4 Bellman did for rhino either.

I adore that one. Is right up there vying with Blue for me!
This particular copy is one of two albums that I swear made it back to my from my parents record colleciton after 20 or so years of them getting rid of it. The "Gavin" writing on the cover is a match for my moms handwriting (and our last name). I picked up it (and Tapestry with the same writing) at a thrift shop certain that had made it's way back to me. Makes me treasure this lovely album even more.
