What's Spinning

Is that jazz based on the Lupin stories?
Yes and from the series. It's probably my favorite j-jazz. Absolutely perfect whiskey drinking music. There were limited releases of two shows the trio did in 2022 at the Blue Note Cafe. As expected the recordings are flawless as are the pressings. They are pricey, but cheaper to buy from CDJapan than the couple places that imported them here.

Gonna jump to one of my SS gifts that came in the mail yesterday.

Ippu-Do (一風堂) - Night Mirage

I loved that by the way, @D Jilla. Strikingly simillar to Yellow Magic Orchestra by lightening up on the synthpop instrumentation and replacing it with a few art pop and sophistipop tropes to the mix. The first track "プランツ・ミュージック (Plants' Music)" is a joy.

This wholly worked for me.

Great to hear - yeah, the cover drew me in to that one and I really liked it too. I'll probably pick it up at some point myself.

This one has my all time favorite Cat Power song, Good Woman.
It’s my favorite Cat Power album. I’ve wanted a copy of the 2009 180 gram RTI Pressed Levin Grey cut for a while now and finally pulled the trigger…

Only to receive the 2003 original pressing instead. Thankfully, It’s still pressed at RTI and sounds quite good but man I hate Discogs sometimes.
