Saw Idris at the 1982 or 3 Telluride Jazz Festival. He was in the house band so we got to enjoy his work for two solid days. Groovemeister! Wife reminded me that Ron Carter was the bassist and George Cables was on piano. Horns rotated in and out and Sonny Rollins joined in.

@Matt M does your copy click on Streetlights? It was filthy when it arrived but twice through the HG and I can't get rid of the clicking only on that song. Wondering if it's a pressing defect or if there are clean copies out there.
Like a worthy Broadway play or good sex, these two ragas take you on a ride worth enjoying. Starting out gently with adventurous probing that helps focus the mind then picking up speed and adding more muscular tempo as they move forward and get the groove on. Then you can see the musicians really exerting themselves with body parts all flying around wildly and so tightly engaged in their passion that something just has to give and it does in a crashing climax that is stunning to the senses. Then, a minute of quiet denouement as the players catch their breath and revel in their fantastic exertions and the ride is over.
I need a cigarette.
