We lost our annual Warren Haynes Xmas Jam to NY this year because of the Helene devastation in WNC. I schedule one of my vacations every year around this event. Last week was pretty much a drag - no Xmas Pre-Jam, no Xmas Jam and oral surgery instead.
I'm glad others got to experience this abbreviated version. You've all heard me rave about it but you don't truly get it till you attend one. Everyone come down next year when it returns home.

I have to share this story from that Jam.
My usual runnin' pardner and I attended both nights.
Night One was business as usual - great show, wrapped about 2AM, hopped in the car and got home about 3:30.
Night Two was met with an ominous forecast that morning - in an incredibly rare display of meteorological solidarity, all the weathermen who make a fine living being right about 34% of the time were insisting we were gonna...
My buddy and I made the gatefold (I'm the big 'un in the black Lee Bains & The Glory Fires shirt)...

Lost a close friend a couple months ago completely out of the blue.
Over the last 15 years I'd shared thousands of hours with Rob conversing during his radio show, going to gigs and hoisting pints.
His show lives on, but I haven't been able to listen since we lost him. Still too painful, too raw. It very well may stay that way.
Rob and I were left of the dial, truly an anomaly in the socio climate of Western NC, and we had so much in common personally and musically. He turned me on to so many great records. I did my best to reciprocate.
Rest easy, Rob. I miss you terribly.
