I thought it was eco-vinyl that was recycled vinyl and sounded awful. Isn’t bio-vinyl the manmade
Vinyl? I think the only thing I have on bio-vinyl is that Aphex Twin and it sounds fantastic.
The first biovinyl, supposedly, was that Michael Stipe release on EarthPercent and it didn't sound great, but my guess is that had less to do with the materials used than all the other factors. I've found the recycled vinyl is hit or miss, early examples sounded bad, but I know the last two I got on that were fine. The ecovinyl sounds no different to me (I think that's where they just mix extra pellets together). All vinyl is man made, PVC doesn’t exist in nature…
I don’t think any of the labels are used exclusively for any product but essentially the recycled vinyl that is chipped down old records is dodgy. The one where they mix all the unused pellets of whatever colour together or the one made out of used cooking oils tends to be as good as anything in my experience.
