What's Spinning

The agutierrezb 2019 record collection challenge

So I've decided to embark on my own personal challenge, which consists of listening every record in my collection before the end of the year. My record collection is not that big -only ~250-, but I still feel like there are a bunch of records I don't give enough attention to, while still adding more titles to my shelves.

For this reason I've set a couple of rules in order to play every record at least once before December 31st: I'll play at least one record a day, going from front to back in the way I have them sorted in my shelf. I can play a different record (i.e. Not the next one in alphabetical order) if I feel like listening to something else in any given moment, but at least one of the records I spin in the day has to be the LP in turn.

I didn't take pictures for the first two days, but I'll try to document the process from here on, so I'll be posting daily on this thread. Wish me luck!
#151: Kokoroko - Kokoroko

One of the most exciting projects of 2019, and a very fun afrobeat record.

Funeral For A Friend - Casually Dressed & Deep In Conversation

Mid 00s Welsh Screamo. Sounds like Emo meets Iron Maiden. Lots of nostalgia in this record, reminds me of hitting the emo/punk night in Satan’s Hollow in Manchester on a Friday night back in the day...

Oh man! Funeral for a Friend! I used to love this group, me and my friend used to listen to this alot. Didn't know it was on vinyl. What pressing is this? How does it sound?

It was an RSD only press back in 2013 for its 10th anniversary. It sounds great. Both it and Hours had OG presses too. Bad news, all presses of their first two albums are well over €100 on Discogs.

Wow! Just checked the prices for these, crazy they are going for that. I'll be on the lookout for these, definitely interested in owning those albums. Between FFAF, Emery and Billy Talent I spent so many hours in school and in my friends car listening to those.

Yeah there were two great Welsh bands in the scene at the time, these and Million Dead who were a bit more punky and a lot more political, they were the band Frank Turner started out in. My clubbing buddy at the time was huge into emo around then and these, Brand New and Taking Back Sunday were her faves, lots of nostalgia of nonsensical drunk dancing!

My collection #100

George Harrison - All Things Must Pass

Somehow feels appropriate that number 100 is something to do with this forum. I've had this record ages and only just realised it's the first UK pressing. Sounds mighty fine too. I agree with all those who say it's best Beatles solo record. Funnily enough, I've never gotten into Paul solo but like a lot of John. Still, this is all top notch (for the first four sides at least).
