Same here, although it feels like opportunities to see him in NC are few and far between.

He was in great spirits. Introduced me to his soon to be wife and was just his incredible self. Not too long after he was trapped in a hurricane, He struggled for a while afterwards, finally figured out that experience resulted in PTSD and completely screwed him up, left Austin for a fresh start and made the spectacular Burn Something Beautiful.

Alejandro has had more than his share of bad luck. When I first started recording his shows, I worked with a guy in his organization named Mike Thompson, basically Alejandro's right hand, that coordinated all the tapers. During one of our conversations he told me how dire it actually got when Alejandro was felled with hepatitis. Mike told me every night when he left Alejandro he made him promise he wouldn't die and they'd see each other the next day because in all their years together Alejandro had never broken a promise. Heavy stuff.
