What's Spinning

Oh man they really were on fire! Would of been amazing to see them live at that time!

It’s a big regret of mine that I didn’t. I would have been in my last year of secondary school at that time and would have just started going into Nottingham, and occasionally Sheffield, for gigs. When I think i missed them (only saw them at Leeds festival) to see a parade of then in vogue landfill indie bands instead 🤦🏻

Horace Tapscott Quintet - The Giant Is Awakened (Real Gone Music, 2020 VMP Exclusive on Coke Bottle Clear with Yellow Swirl)

Absolutely killer album, im going to give it a second spin straight away! This copy is 113/300, and its a superb pressing. Really really happy with this one!

I only have a digital bootleg of the 2001 session, but it's amazing.
Playing it now, forgot how good it is. 2003 was my first time seeing them, remember now that the White Blood Cells tour sold out super-quick, and I just missed it.

I'm also partial to Redd Blood Cells, the bootleg where the bassist from Redd Kross adds bass to the album. Some songs don't work, but some sound amazing.

I saw them at Leeds in 2002 and it was a bad time tbh. They were high up on the main stage before they were ready. They played a great set but I’d say the year before on a smaller stage or headlining a couple of years down the lime would have been better. I’m lining up my record to spin next too!

They definitely had a limit in terms of venue size. They were great in the Academy (an old cinema/bingo hall, so around 2,500?) but were a bit lost in the SECC, which is significantly bigger.

The Strokes were similar tbh. Again lost on the main stage at Leeds, absolutely on fire at the Apollo in Manchester (old theatre also about 2,500).

Totally agree. Saw them twice, once in a stadium-sized gig (sucked, big time) and then at the Academy where they were much better.

I highly suggest it! I imagine you know, but it's (one of) Rob from Apples In Stereo's side projects. I actually messaged AIS on Facebook to see if they could locate one and their guitar player happened to have two - lucked out. It's not on Spotify, but it's definitely on YouTube!
Yeah early 2000’s I jumped in deep down the E6 rabbit hole. Sadly, I don’t have many E6 bands on vinyl, I might have to rectify that. A quick cursory google search didn’t turn up much. The hunt continues.

Let me know what E6 band(s) or album(s) you're looking for and I can at least point you in the right direction. I've wormholed and own a ton. Some easy, some tough
