What's Spinning

The agutierrezb 2019 record collection challenge

So I've decided to embark on my own personal challenge, which consists of listening every record in my collection before the end of the year. My record collection is not that big -only ~250-, but I still feel like there are a bunch of records I don't give enough attention to, while still adding more titles to my shelves.

For this reason I've set a couple of rules in order to play every record at least once before December 31st: I'll play at least one record a day, going from front to back in the way I have them sorted in my shelf. I can play a different record (i.e. Not the next one in alphabetical order) if I feel like listening to something else in any given moment, but at least one of the records I spin in the day has to be the LP in turn.

I didn't take pictures for the first two days, but I'll try to document the process from here on, so I'll be posting daily on this thread. Wish me luck!
#179: MF DOOM - Born like this

#180: Pablo Milanes - Yo me quedo

Nice record by Cuban singer-songwriter Pablo Minales. Both calm and cheerful tunes that are very helpful in these stressful times.

Queen - A Night At The Opera (Hollywood Records 2018 VMP Essentials Pressing, EMI 1975 First UK pressing, EMI 1975 First UK Signed Pressing)

I somehow have 3 copies of this album. The VMP one sounded too good to pass on and I already had a first pressing I picked up at a carboot for a couple of quid a few years back. The big one is the First pressing signed by all 4 members. Really special one this, and one that I got at a fantastic price years ago. Its a shame the pen is faded (its a lot clearer in person), but still a cool one to have.

I've got 3 aswell. A really old black one, VMP one and a white one pressed last year here in Dublin Ireland by a local Subscription service. Amazing album ❤

Queen - A Day At The Races (EMI, 1976 First UK Pressing)

Another oddity here. The one playing is the first UK pressing, but I also picked up another copy at a carboot sale years ago (minus the gatefold). The seller said it used to be his copy until his daughter took it and decorated it. The story goes that one day she asked him if she could go skiing with her school friend and her family. He said it was fine but he wanted to meet the family first to offer some money. A few days later he met the family and it turns out Brian May was the friend's dad (he was apparently a super nice guy and made sure he was completely comfortable with everything etc). I didn't question him but the story stacks up, it was in the same area where Brian lives (in fact, my girlfriend's parents live down the road from where Roger Taylor now lives). Anyway, theres a nice little story behind the album :ROFLMAO:
