What's Spinning

The agutierrezb 2019 record collection challenge

So I've decided to embark on my own personal challenge, which consists of listening every record in my collection before the end of the year. My record collection is not that big -only ~250-, but I still feel like there are a bunch of records I don't give enough attention to, while still adding more titles to my shelves.

For this reason I've set a couple of rules in order to play every record at least once before December 31st: I'll play at least one record a day, going from front to back in the way I have them sorted in my shelf. I can play a different record (i.e. Not the next one in alphabetical order) if I feel like listening to something else in any given moment, but at least one of the records I spin in the day has to be the LP in turn.

I didn't take pictures for the first two days, but I'll try to document the process from here on, so I'll be posting daily on this thread. Wish me luck!

#190: Wes Montgomery - Solitude

#191: Wes Montgomery - Impressions

Another live album by Wes. The other one features Four on Six, and Johnny Griffin on one track, but I think I prefer this one. The Coltrane feel throughout the record sets a great backdrop for Montgomery to solo.

This is only my 2nd listen of this record. When VMP released it this one really made me question if the VMP sub was worth it to me. A few decent albums mixed it with ones I just couldn't get into seemed like a waste of money. There was a run of every other month was something that I wouldn't give a 2nd listen to (at least within 2 years like this example)...after this and Main Source the next month that streak ended and the ROTM's got a bit better.

To my ear they both sound really good. TBH, I probably didn’t need to pick this reissue up as my OG copies vinyl is super clean, that being said the OG sleeve has seen better days and the color of the reissue is on point. I will probably end up holding on to both. Regardless, I am glad this was reissued, such a funky LP.
