Didn’t you make a post about not being into this one?
I was deeply disappointed with Cartoon Darkness. Very weak, arguably outright bad. A couple good tracks, but all of the singles and tracks getting hyped up are not good. Unimaginative instrumentals, truly poor lyrical flow.

1 point because of the couple decent tracks and because Amy and the boys are something special, but this album ain't it

I gave it 10 points…but being honest…it took a few listens to click.

Maybe give it a few more spins and see if it sneaks up on ya.

im looking thru these lists, i don't think I've listened to any music from 2024 yet lol
I have a hard time keeping track of what came out when, time is a blurry circle.
I didn't do a great job at keeping up with new releases this year but I thought by my standard I'd covered a decent amount of what came out compared to previous years. Then I look at these lists and they're full of artist and album names that look like this to me

My favorite part of doing the list is discovering everyone else's favorites that I've never heard of. But it can be pretty boring when it's a top heavy year. So for me it's been nice to see more musical diversity in picks and genres so far this year. Even though I imagine as more post their lists it'll start to take shape around a couple big releases.

There are no surprises or surprising genres in my list. I bet a couple of you could have made the list for me. That’s a good idea for next year, send @avecigrec and a couple others a fiver to make my list for me.

That Todd Bonzalez album "Roll The Bonz" just edged out that wild Bob Dugnutt "You Wanna Get Dugnutts?" on my list.

You’re getting oooooooold gap….
I feel old! Though in reality I think there's just so much music being released all the time that it's impossible to keep up with everything and I'm more concerned with checking out the stuff I can be reasonably sure I'll enjoy over anything else. There were a few neat blind discoveries this year but overall I stuck with what I liked and I think my list will reflect that.

True but understanding that you can’t be across everything and prioritising the things that you can be most certain you will enjoy is part of getting….

….oooooooooold hahahaha!

PS: You’re not old, still a baby, just messing with ya!

Notes:
It was an excellent year for music. My top ten are nearly interchangeable as far as quality goes. There are also a few late additions to the list that I could’ve seen rising higher if I had more time with em. I also put my money where my rank is since I’ve purchased all of my top albums on wax.

A few of my other faves from this year that I wouldn’t classify as proper albums in no particular order:

Neil Young - Duma
Neil Young - Early Daze
Pavement - Cautionary Tale: Jukebox Classiques
War On Drugs - Live Drugs Again
Acetone - I’ve Enjoyed As Much Of This As I Can Stand: Live At The Knitting Factory, NYC: May 31,1998
Fleet Foxes - Live On Boston Harbor
Galaxie 500 - Uncollected Noise New York ‘88-‘90
The Grateful Dead - Veterans Memorial Coliseum 5.5.77
