Apologies to my neighbors, but this long “short” work week is going to wrap up with me playing Descendents really, really loud.
I know we’re only technically through 5 months of 2023, and 6/9 alone is going to be a banner day for new releases, but, I’m definitely behind last year’s pace for new albums that are end of year best-of list worthy.
The new Bayonne album is really beautiful.
Found a couple of decent records at the antique mall, including R.E.M.’s “Eponymous”. Guy at register was like, “R.E.M….’Show me, show me, show me how you do that trick’”. Ooof.
Catching up on all of the tricot releases from the past 4-5 years that I slept on for some reason. They’ve been busy!

I’ve seen Jason Isbell 3 times now, and tonight’s show was the best of them all. Not to say the others weren’t great, but he and his band were just operating on a different level tonight. Perfect set list & amazing opener.
Seeing Jason Isbell tomorrow, and Amythyst Kiah is opening. Just listened to her cover of ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart’, and, wow! How have I not heard about her?!? She’s amazing!
Apparently, a critter of some kind decided to crawl into the inner workings of my car and die. RIP to the new car smell that I still had 16 months after getting it. Yeah, it has been that kind of week.

“Moonage Daydream” is not exactly what I was expecting. Went in blind on this one. I guess this is pretty much how a Bowie doc should be stylistically. Certainly different.

RIP Harry Belafonte. A life well lived for sure. This is one I’ve always really enjoyed.
Teaser for the new PJ Harvey single due out on 4/26 sounds dark and drone-y. Granted, you can’t read too much from a 14 second clip.
Ahhh…RSD+1, where I play vulture and pick over any RSD remains at my local shops.
Loving this new Laveda album, "A Place You Grew Up In".
It doesn’t always play out this way, but I love it when, after years of trying to connect with an artist’s work, things finally, and unexpectedly, click. -
