Enjoying this Buffalo Hunt album, “Ambitions of Ambiguity”. Hints of St. Vincent’s first few albums in places, but a lot of sonic variety here. The straight up country duet with fiancée Shakey Graves is an outlier, but it’s also a standout track.
It's the annual Willie Weekend on KUTX in honor of Willie Nelson's birthday. One of my favorite weekends of listening each year. Stream here if you're outside of the Austin city limits. Support The Austin Music Experience - KUTX
Enjoying this new track from a forthcoming solo effort from Minus The Bear’s David Knudson. It features Bayonne (aka Roger Sellers) on vocals. Nice chill vibe here.
Austin City Limits is airing an hour long Best of Nanci Griffith episode this week. It premieres this evening, and will likely have some re-airings next week. Check your local PBS listings for airtimes.
Barely able to scrape together a top 10 albums list for 2021, which sucks. A lot going on this year that had me focused on things other than checking out the latest releases.
This Christmas, I’m going to see how many times I can awkwardly shoehorn, “Well tonight thank God it’s them, instead if youuuu” into conversations without any context.
Hit up Waterloo Records this morning for the first time in a few months. Definitely not getting as much music bang for my bucks on vinyl purchases. Shit has gotten EXPENSIVE!
Just now getting around to listening to the new Brandi Carlile record. Not sure what the critical or fan consensus is, but I think this is now my favorite album of hers.
“House of Gucci” was pretty meh, but it does have some strong individual performances. Gaga is really good, but Jared Leto ended up being the real scene stealer.
Really enjoyed watching The Go-Go’s get inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. It clearly meant a lot to them, and honestly it should have happened a long time ago.
