  • Question about Apple Music. If you sign up, does it immediately convert the file type for the files in your library?

It removed the high quality versions I had uploaded to my phone and replaced them cloud versions

I guess that is what I’m afraid of. It is why I’ve never pulled the trigger on Apple Music. I don’t want to have to get another backup drive specifically for certain songs in my library. Guess I’m stuck with Spotify.

I also had ripped videos converted to audio that transferred to my library easily, no problems. I just switched back to Apple Music and I think it's so much better.
That feeling when you remember a song and/or album released earlier in the year that you neglected to include on the year end list you already posted.
Favorite performance in “The Last Waltz”? Tough call. Even though he’s a horrible human being, for me it is probably Van Morrison’s ‘Caravan’.
That new Billy Joe Shaver tribute album is worth a listen.

Oh no, did God come and call Billy Joe to his kingdom?

He passed two years ago. Solid tribute album with a good lineup of choice Americana artists, and then a couple of quality country radio artists. Great song selection. Only track I’m not crazy about is the Amanda Shires take on ‘Honky Tonk Heroes’.
The new season of Austin City Limits begins this Saturday with an hour long Brandi Carlile episode. The stream of the taping was incredible, so I’m really excited to see the final product. Check your local PBS station for airtimes.

Thanks for the reminder. I saw the IMAX livestream tonight and that was pretty cool. I hope the ACL episode has some of the Canyon versions of the songs. "Throwing Good After Bad" is so different. I love the album version but the new version really gives it a different twist.

Picked up the latest in Stereolab's "Switched On" series at Waterloo Records earlier this afternoon. While I was checking out, I overheard a very pleasant, rather familiar sounding British voice behind me. I turned for a look as I headed for the door...it was just one time Austinite Robert Plant. I had pretty much walked right in front of a rock and roll hall of famer on the way to the register & didn't even notice.

Not sure. I believe he had already checked out. I don't know if any of the people around him were there with him, or just folks that happened to be near the register when he was making his purchase. Dude looked like he had just come back from the lake. Shorts and, I believe, flip flops with his hair tied back. He had a show with Alison Krauss last night, I believe.
Jumped on the new Marie/Lepanto EP for this Bandcamp Friday. Both of their LPs are great too if you've never checked 'em out.
Really digging the new Foals record. I find them to be consistently solid though, so I’m not too surprised that I’m enjoying it.

They are like a British version of Spoon - every album is at the very least solid but usually good to great.

They are down to a trio on this album, and I didn’t even notice.
Enjoying this Buffalo Hunt album, “Ambitions of Ambiguity”. Hints of St. Vincent’s first few albums in places, but a lot of sonic variety here. The straight up country duet with fiancée Shakey Graves is an outlier, but it’s also a standout track.
Was totally not expecting to hear Thee Headcoatees' 'Davey Crockett' over the closing credits of the Season 3 premiere of "Barry".
