  • Decided to send in the magnepans for warranty repair, it cost $89 usd uninsured to ship, got a deal by using the fedex account at the golf course.

I’m not into that to be honest, if I’m going to hook something up I’m going to use it for a while. Especially with how heavy the Lintons are comparatively, if it were to light boys like the LRS it wouldn’t be as bad.

As I was packing up the Maggies, a couple days after recieving the Lintons I couldn’t help but think of Rust Cohle (true detective) coming out of the evidence locker saying “they really should have a better system for this”
The Lintons are quite beautiful, let the listening begin, you guys weren’t kidding about the upscale audio packaging, took me an hour to get everything out and the boxes broken down and packing materials bagged.
This is one of the stretches where it seems like “everything is going wrong” even though it’s nothing of life altering consequence. Fedex shows up I go out to greet the driver, he looks through the packed track not anywhere close to thoroughly and says it’s not on his truck. I took the day off of work to stay home to sign for them now I have to find a way to pick them up myself from fedex.
I’m a bad audiophile, I have a blown tweeter in one of my elacs, what luck good thing the Lintons are arriving tomorrow.
Not only Will Magnepan not pay to ship back to the factory their speakers that never worked, there’s no guarantee once they get them they don’t just decide that I should have to pay to fix them anyway based on “what’s wrong with them”, if all audio companies are like this I’m scared to spend money with anyone other than Amazon.

also thought for a second that the owner was named Will Magnepan haha.

@Dylanfan253 Tempted to buy them off you if you’re just going to toss them otherwise.

I could be more “reasonable” if they simply said too much time had passed after initial delivery, that was never mentioned by them, if you accept the delivery from the shipper then it’s on you from there to pay to ship them back regardless of if or why they don’t work properly.
Needed some retail therapy, ordered The Rolling Stones mono box

I didn’t purchase it or any other records to “speculate” for financial gain. I however knew I would get it at some point, it likely will never be less expensive than it is now, and I do believe it will cost more and more once they sell out of it. Definitely not to the extent of the Beatles box but it will easily be $600 at some point which is twice nearly what I paid.
Does anyone here have a contact email for Magnepan that isn’t the service department, I’m hoping to connect with someone there that understands what customer service is.

Businesses love to hate on Amazon because of pricing but they never bring up that Amazon has in my experience some of the best most efficient customer service, hopefully they remember that when Amazon is the only one to buy things from.

Also Magnepan, if you are so busy then maybe it would suffice that you are open more than 7.5 hours a day five days a week. End of rant for today, feel free to check in tomorrow as the battle continues.
Fuck Magnepan. They want me to pay to ship back speakers that never worked, on top of that intimated that I am not being honest because the carton would have had “obvious” damage. They may make good stuff but they don’t deserve to succeed with such customer service. Magnepan failed.

I mean. You have a lengthy post history here demonstrating your attempts to fix an issue that was never your problem to begin with. Shouldn’t be hard to show them how long you’ve been dealing with this precisely because you assumed they were too good to make defective product.

Thanks for the suggestion @kvetcha, I come here to vent, ask for advice, and interact with like minded folks and you all keep me in a good frame of mind.

I got a response from the same fellow in their service department after I filed a service request on their website, they are on central and I on west coast time so I won’t hear back until Monday. All I can do is explain to them in detail my situation and hope they make it right, otherwise I’m just going to order something else.
Confirmed that my Magnepan LRS have been faulty upon delivery two years ago, waiting to hear back from them because apparently in the Audio world companies don’t pay to ship things covered under warranty, that is absurd.
I’m feeling so defeated, I believe all the drama surrounding my Magnepan LRS is that the left channel speaker has been faulty from the beginning.
Recently had an awesome success with the vinyl flat, the most warped record I’ve successfully completely flattened that wasn’t newly pressed.
I finally pulled the trigger on The Beatles Revolver Deluxe solely for the Mono copy, for $160.

When I first started collecting the local fye had a mono box for $500 and I could have snagged it for $400, when I started actively buying records like a degenerate it was still there and I didn’t buy it like a fucking idiot. It’s the only significant “regret” I have in my journey.

It’s the worst with The Beatles catalog due to the Capitol records sounding bad and up through revolver the stereo mixes are off putting.
Is Barry McGuire “Eve Of Destruction” an unusually recorded album. I acquired a modern reissue, the vocals sound like the were recorded in a box, it just doesn’t sound right. I have no others to compare to.
Never spend much time in Seattle so my fiancée the dog and I went to four different record stores, found a few records. Jive Time and Sonic Boom I purchased at, silver platters and zions gate I did not. I was not surprised by the lack of used selection but more so that none of them had anything exciting that would be on the “wall”
In Frisco Texas for the week, any must stops other than Josie Records

Thanks for the suggestions, because of the ice storm I didn’t get outside of Frisco until my last day Friday. I went to the big Josey records location, found a few they are shipping them for me.

Went to the new location in Plano I believe, but it was Friday and they had a DJ or band and there were ten times as many people as I have ever seen in a record store so I never went in. Driving was wild, the freeway systems and streets were a lot different then Washington.

Whataburger was surprising, torchys was not very good. The people seemed friendlier at businesses than what I’m used to.
Scored a 33 rpm KOB uhqr sealed from the in groove what not auction for $95, a mofi copy sold for well over $100 in the same auction lol.

i misread this at first and thought rpm KOB uhqr is a weird name for a videogame and also how hard is it to get a point?
The Grateful Dead -American Beauty sounds bad on my magnepans, there are many albums where the “quality of the recording” are made apparent but these speakers but also with my elacs. The American Beauty is the first one to surprise me.

@wmeugene I had assumed that this was the case and that it was an internal issue so to speak and wasn’t the recording. Thanks for the confirmation this is why I love everyone here so much and can vent and then move on and find an answer or assistance.

I could see that, American Beauty does have a lot more harmony (they were inspired by Crosby Stills and Nash) and separated instrumentation, so placement could definitely make it sound weird
