The CBGB Tribute Show I am playing tomorrow night (featuring Mates of State and Chris & Tina from Talking Heads) is officially sold out!
...Freaking out a bit... in a great way.
A friend I have known for 24 years put out a book in the last few years that I am finally reading.
As proud as I am of her, I am also deeply searching my memory bank to see if she had been trying to send me hints at the time that I was too unaware of to catch. Amazon product ASIN 1982107340
TIL that 4th graders watch Rick & Morty. A whole class knew/sang the Blonde Redhead melody for Evil Morty and many of them knew the words to Belly's "Seal My Fate." I don't know how to feel about this.
As a music teacher, normally I love ruining things for my students that they think are secrets... like the sixth grader who still hasn't forgiven me for knowing who Mitski is. On the other hand, I love that I can now share a love of Mountain Goats with the kids who have dug a little deeper than the one song.
For my grandmother, who passed this morning at the age of 100. I should be so lucky.
"As long as you live, shine. Let nothing trouble you. For life is short, and time demands its toll."
For anyone unaware, Jonny Polonsky's "Hi My Name Is Jonny" is available on vinyl now... But there's only 250 copies. And it's still available widely. THIS IS NOT A DRILL!
I don't know why I thought about this yesterday, but I did. It took a little research to remember who it was and when I saw it, but I found it again after 27 years. And oh man is it beautiful.
How is it my summer vacation was 10 weeks long, and I only figured out today that I can fill in inflatable pool with a leaf blower in a matter of seconds?
I have listened to a LOT of music this summer and I am telling you: The Anniversary's "Designing A Nervous Breakdown" not only holds up, but is even better than it was 20 years ago.
