Upcoming/Recent Shows

Finally saw The Ocean Blue last night at the Brooklyn Bowl. They’ve been on me list to see for a while now and I actually had tickets to see them in Phoenix a few years ago but didn’t end up going.

Anyway, the band was wonderful and sounded fantastic. I wish the turnout would have been better but this city is really hit and miss. Lastly, this is the first show that I’ve been to recently where I really felt my age as the majority of the limited crowd were either my age or older. There were younger goers, but it was minimal.

I’d also like to add that this band should always be mentioned in the same breath as the other indie/dream pop bands from that era and they might have had a much bigger following had they hailed from across the ocean.

Travis at The Agora Theatre in Cleveland tonight. I may have just been living under a rock in the early 00's, but this band was completely new to me until a few weeks ago when my local station started to play their new single.

Earlier today they did an acoustic session which made me decide to check out the show tonight.

A friend had an extra ticket which wasn't being used so I tagged along. Overall a very enjoyable show. It's their first US tour in like 14 years, which made the attendance tonight a little disappointing to see (half full would be my estimation), but they sounded very good.

There wasn't any opener on the venue site, but there was one and her name was Akira Galaxy. Great stage presence and did a solid Massive Attack cover. I think she has lots of potential.

MJ Lenderman & The Wind last night in Portland. Amazing sound as always at Revolution Hall. MJ will be back for 2 more nights in September.

Patterson Hood joined at the start of the encore to add vocals and guitar on a cover of his song "Uncle Disney".

Ran into @Matt M after the show.

Tried to figure out what venue this was then realized you were talking about Portland 2.0

How was that Lauren Mayberry show? I love Chvrches but for some reason haven't dug into her solo album yet.

I, personally, enjoyed her solo album so it was a delight to see those songs performed live. If you're lukewarm on the album and/or don’t enjoy Lauren’s between-song banter, then I would probably advise against seeing her because the setlist is literally the entire album plus one cover song. It’ll be a relatively short set time-wise, too, so it may not be worth it depending on the price to get in.

I love her banter! Will have to give her album a listen.
