6th Annual N&G 31 Days* of Halloween (2024)

I have never seen the Zombie Halloween movies and don't really have any desire to. Corpses and Rejects were decent and unfortunately I watched The Lords of Salem, but his white trash world is kind of boring. I guess I should watch 3 From Hell to finish the trilogy,
H2 > 3 From Hell, but totally understand the lack of desire.

Zombie's Halloweens are a cinematic equivalent of a good song cover (where an artist puts their own signature stamp on it). His rendition is angry as fuck, yet he also found a way to weave more of a more grounded, gritty, and intriguing character study of Michael Myers as a villain (particularly in part 2).

I'm lowkey peeved with Prime Video. They have Halloween II in the listings with OG imagery but then the info screen is for the Rob Zombie version. So I wasn't able to watch it last night. Tonight I decided to rent a digital movie for the first time ever so that I could watch it. I rented it from Cineplex and was able to use Scene points so it didn't cost anything, but then my Chromebook wasn't able to run the movie!🤬 So I'll have to try and borrow my wife's laptop tomorrow night to watch it. In the meanwhile This is what I wound up watching tonight instead:

5 for style and 3 for story gives us our 4 here. I knew nothing about this going into it, beyond the sentence or two on the Shudder menu screen; I decided I wanted to take a shot at something random, and this just got added. It's one helluva ride, and I feel like I had a contact high for most of it! Brilliantly shot with incredible sound design that is right up there with The Substance for intensity and importance to the movie. Absolutely worth a watch, and worth going in knowing as little as possible.

Love this, and agree.

Not sure if you get peacock up there but it has like a ton of them including Halloween II OG

If I'm honest, it's a bit dull. I understand that it was influential and all that jazz but there wasn't much horror in this. I enjoyed the story but wish there was more.

20) A Quiet Place Part II (2020) 💀 💀💀 💀

I think this is technically a better movie than Pt I but I liked it just as much. I completely forgot that Henri guy from Day One was in this one and telling his story from the Day One setting. I thought that was kinda neat. I wonder how he got a son in this movie though because he didn't have one in Day one?? I also thought it was kinda stupid that the boat somehow made it to the island with the monster on it. But I still liked it. Completely an edge of your seat movie and it doesn't let up even through the end.

21) Halloween (1978) 💀 💀💀 💀

OK i get the hype for this one. I like how Michael Myers is just a huge creep stalking breathing and watching people from windows. You're not really given a reason why and it leaves you wanting a bit more. Even the end was super unsettling. I know I said I haven't seen any Halloweens before but I have seen this - must have been a long time ago. As I watched, I remembered a lot of these scenes.

Friday the 13th Part II (1981)

💀💀💀🦴

Really enjoyable sequel. Jason in full force (still no hockey mask that comes next round), and the opening kind of reminded me of
Scream in how they immediately and unexpectedly kill a main character/known character
. Moving on to Part III.
godspeed on part 3. it's worth getting through for 4 (which is as far as I've made it so far)

I like part 3...it has my favorite version of Jason, plus it gives him the iconic hockey mask.

If you can watch it in 3D it makes all the gags easier to watch than a non-3D version. (I watched it once on my old TV that could do 3D, but my new OLED 4K isn't 3D compatible)

It also has the better disco version of the main theme.

Yeah I’m an hour in now. Still no mask and barely any kills. The fat friend arc is pretty annoying. We’ll see if they can pull it out.

Halloween II
[1981] 💀 💀 🦴

Entertaining enough, but everyone is being an idiot! And despite going to great lengths at time to have a similar look to the first, it just doesn't have the atmosphere or creepiness. The sibling storyline is stupid, but we all (including Carpenter) know that, so 'nuff said. My absolute favourite moment is when Michael walks through the glass door like the goddamned Kool-Aid man; now that's entertainment!

Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers
[1989] 💀 💀

I feel like Donald Pleasence went from being one of the best things about the last one to being one of the worst things about this one. Danielle Harris was great though.
