@HiFi Guy - think these would work with a Fluance RT85? I've seen concerns about MCs before due to the lightweight tone arm.

My preamp (StudioPhono) should support it, so I might go for it if it'd work. I need a new Blue stylus here pretty soon and this is actually way cheaper!

It should work fine.

What kind of headshell would you mount the SAE to for a vintage Technics table?
(Model number is at home, don't know it now)

Cartridge deal of the century! These are circa 1980-84. No concerns about deteriorating rubber suspension because they used synthetic rubber. Back then they were $240- about $800 today. At $99 shipped, I bought 2. The 1000LT has a line contact stylus. The 1000E is elliptical.

High output MC will work with a standard MM phono input.

More info here with an eBay link.

Also a post with specs from Joseph Long/The Groove Tickler. He’s the guy that made my custom Grado styli.

“I finally got some time to hook one up. The testing results are, in a word, superlative and kind of surprising. This hasn’t even broken in and this one is basically showing zero crosstalk (over 40dB separation) and dead perfect 0dB channel balance. VTF is spec 1.8g.

I have not done a frequency response test but suffice to say that if it’s testing like this, there is nothing wrong with the suspension, diamond or coils. I would expect it to meet minimum FR response specs at least and, really, pass with flying colors.

This is the best deal going on a new moving coil cartridge right now and not likely to be found again any time soon with so many to go around.”

no international shipping , he had me for a minute

@HiFi Guy thanks for the heads-up on this. Just purchased one of the LT carts. The link from the Hoffman link that you provided led to a sale that was marked as completed, but it contained a link to a "relist" that is for the elliptical version:

I searched the seller's "other items" to find the LT version. 6 available at the moment:

Hmmmm very tempted. Can send to my redelivery guys in the US. It is cheaper than what I was planning on next. Only thing is the Hana probably still has a year on it, changing carts on my table isn’t a thing you want to be doing until it’s a permanent change and it’d be just my luck that I’d get a dead channel one and find that out a year down the line!

Feck it I’m weak! €110 plus €17 for the re-delivery (and probably €30 in customs) is still pretty cheap…

Also anyone know of any good re-tipping people in Europe. Tempted to get the opus3 re-done with boron and micro-line.

You currently have a mismatch- the Bias is 14mm tall and is designed for the straight arm.

The SAE is taller like 17-18 mm and will work perfectly with your arm.

Edit- Rega cartridges have ridiculously high output- like 7 mV. The 1000 has 2.5mV output so you’ll turn your volume control up farther to get the same volume level. You should notice a huge jump in performance and much lower surface noise however.
